Free DDP and AAA discount

I am sure this has been asked but I keep reading conflicting info. I booked the free DDP for next year during the bounce back offer. I am now a AAA member and am wondering if I can get a AAA discount on top of this? Also does AAA only offer discounts some of the time or is it an on going discount? I hope the last question makes sense.

In my experience, you can't. You have to pay full rack rate for your room in order to get free dining. So you really need to sit and crunch the numbers in order to see if the free dining is worth paying for with the higher room rate.

You can't layer discounts - so you'd have to choose between DDP and the AAA discount (room only or package).

It largely seems to depend on which hotel you stay at and how many people will be in your room as to which is better. For 10 -15% off a value resort room, the DDP is a better deal, particularly if you have 3 or 4 people in your party. For a deluxe room, the discount may be more than the cost of DDP, particularly if there are only 2 of you.

The AAA discount is available all year, except holiday time, I think. It seems that sometimes certain rooms may not be available with AAA or that they run out of discounts for certain categories of rooms.
