Free concierge upgrade at Beach Club!

On our last trip to the Beach Club, (July 2006), we got a complimentary upgrade to concierge . We were ready to leave the desk with our blue cards when the CM said, oh hang on, I've given you the wrong keys, you need gold ones. We couldn't believe our luck! That kind of thing doesn't happen to us. I guess it was because the hotel was really full? Needless to say, we thoroughly enjoyed the free drinks/snacks available . We are going to the GF this October, but doubt if lightening strikes twice in the same place! Has this happened to any of you before? I would love to know if it has.

first of all, welcome! i see it is your first post. and how lucky for you to be upgraded!
it is possible but unlikely to get upgraded to concierge at the GF. the concierge there stays pretty darn full, i have been talking with people lately trying to book it (and pay for it) and can't even get in. BUT like i said, it COULD happen, but dont let it ruin your trip if it doesnt, the GF is WONDERFUL anyway!

I book concierge level to start with so there is really no where to get upgraded to, unless maybe a suite or something, but that hasn't happened.

Congrats on your upgrade! The food at BC Concierge was very tasty

Thanks for the reply so soon! Yeah, I'm not really expecting it to happen again... any room at the GF is good enough for me . Me and my family are also looking forward to indulging in the Disney Dining Plan for the first time! We're going to try to order thev most expensive things off of the menu . Can't wait until more Disney Magic!

Congratulations!!! We had that happen to us once and we were thrilled. We especially loved putting our gold keys into the elevator slot. It made us feel special.

It happened to us at the GF 3 years ago. When we checked in and were told we were bumped up to concierge, I was all confused. What?? Do they really do that?? My DH had to give me a little push to get me moving, I think I was in shock. It was the most AMAZING trip ever. We have since bought into DVC so no more concierge for us. But we have wonderful memories of that time.

Yes, it has happened to me! Last September we were upgraded to Poly concierge for 9 whole days. I've since booked concierge for our next Poly trip in September 2007! Also, in May, I checked into WL for one day and was told we were upgraded. I've also been upgraded to water view at POFQ from standard. It is always such a treat, although I never ask and never expect it. And Disney is smart...because I now stay concierge whenever possible.

LOL! After all the stays in Disney I've had, not ONCE did I ever get an upgrade..... AND I used to be a CM 12 yrs ago, so I know how to be extremely sweet at check-in and to always make note of any special events we're celebrating when we're there (ie. honeymoon, anniversaries, bdays, etc) and not once......

who knows... we go in 49 more days... maybe there's hope for us in this year of a million dreams!?!?!?

Heehee, you guys are so lucky! Its much easier for you to get to WDW when you live in America! It's much more of a task when you live in Britain! But, it's always such a treat when we get there though ! Mind you, I have there oodles of times!
