Free Checked Baggage for Military

Just wanted to give those military folks out there the heads up that US Airways has free checked baggage for active duty military

Each active duty military member is allowed to check 3 pieces of luggage for free, with a limit of 100 lbs for EACH bag (so you can check 300 lbs total for free!)

Nope. All they ask for is the military ID when you get to the baggage counter.

American airlines does this as well; although I will say in our experience the workers don't seem to have much knowledge about it. When we flew down to MCO, they allowed my dh (active duty) to put all 3 checked bags in his name and was able to check them for free. Coming back they insisted that it was supposed to be 2 free for the active duty member and 1 free per dependent. It worked out fine for us either way, but I'd probably always bring a print out of it from their website, just to be sure.
