I was wondering how the free b-day admission works if you purchase a vacaton package. Our next trip may be on my sons birthday. Do they credit you that when you book or do they wait till you come and credit you then. I would like to know how others have used this bonus from Disney. Thanks in advance!

If you already have tickets then you can choose one of the alternatives. These alternatives are a Gift Card of the value of a one day ticket (if he's 9 or under then it'll be the value of a child's ticket, otherwise it'll be the value of an adult's ticket) or a special birthday fastpass. I think most people feel the GC is a better way to go since anybody can go get fast passes (though the birthday one doesn't have times on it).

Disney doesn't "credit" you anything. You get the alternatives listed above (or a free ticket that can be used within the year, but is not upgradeable).

Whether the GC or the Fast Pass is better depends on the time of year. If it's really busy, the birthday fast pass (which is good for up to 6 in your party) may be a better idea.

Do you have to use the GC that day in the park you got it in? I heard you did then I think I heard they changed it....reason I am asking my dd bd is July 31 and we will be there, I have already signed up, she is choosing the GC and I want to make sure she used it that day if need be....thanks!!

I know I can ask the day she gets it but just like being prepared!

No, you don't have to use it the day you get it. We got one for our son's birthday and didn't use it until the last day at the park. You do need to get it ON the day of the birthday, and be sure you have proof (like a birth certificate) with you. Also, take your DD with up to the window... they want to see the kid who is having the birthday!

marcielm.....THANK YOU!!!!! I have her BC already in my wallet to take with me....lol I dont want to be carrying around her passport that day.....

Thanks everyone for the help! I know I can look it up, but how much is a one day ticket for a 12 year old? I was just wondering how much the gift card would be? I think the fastpass would be more fun for the family. But my son would probably like to spend the gift card. Choices Choices!

Ok, stupid question-

Fast pass is it for ALL rides or just the ones that offer Fast Pass??? :confused3

A 12 year old buys an adult ticket, so it's about $75.

It's only for specific rides in each park. I don't remember which ones they are, though.

Where do we go to get the giftcard? Can we get it at our resort or do we need to do it at the theme park we go to? Thanks to all who know morw then me!

The fast pass is for rides that have the fast pass system.

Here is a quote I found somewhere else when I googled 'WDW birthday fastpass' explaining how it worked for them:
We visited MK this past Sunday for DD's 10th birthday. She chose the Birthday Fastpass. We were given a list, that is dated, of rides that we could use it for.
We could choose 2 rides from the "Donald" group and 2 rides from the "Daisy" group. Our Keys to the World were scanned to tie in with the separate Birthday FP card. The good part is that you can print out your FP and use it right away or come back later. The "Donald" group included the 3 "mountain" rides plus Peter Pan's Flight. The "Daisy" group included Stitch, Jungle Cruise, Buzz Lightyear. It worked out well for our visit because Sunday was pretty busy.

Please know that there are limited numbers of the Birthday FPs available, and they recommend you get there before 11am (another reason we went with the GC... we didn't make it to WDW before noon). From what I've read, it doesn't look like you get more than 4 FP's total, so it's not like you can keep riding stuff all day.

You need to go to the ticket window at a theme park... this is located OUTSIDE the turnstyles, so don't do what we did and go IN, then find out we had to go back out & wait in line!

I was just at WDW for my B-Day(June 7). I chose the gift card because I already had tickets. Go to any Guest Relations center(I was at Epcot) and they will need to verify your B-Day(a license will work) and fill out some short paperwork. I ued my giftcard at both Epcot and MK during my visit... too cool!:thumbsup2

I had questions about the gift card. I decided to go straight to Disney and sent an email. I have posted the email and Disney's response. I think this might help others as well.

*****My email: Hello. My sister will be having a birthday on September 1st. This is the day that she will be arriving to Orlando that evening. She is staying at the Saratoga Springs resort. Since she is a passholder and since she will be arriving later in the day, she is interested in the Birthday Fun Card. I have a couple of questions-1) She will register online and print off the sheet with the code. She will have a Driver's License with her. Is she able to pick up this Birthday Fun Card at Guest Relations in Downtown Disney or does she haveto go to one of the parks? We are trying to figure out meal times.2) Her birthday is September 1st. Does the $75 all have to be used before 11:59PM on September 1st or will the remaining balance be available for use on the next day? Is the Birthday Fun Card non-expiring? I know that it is a gift, so techincally we will not "lose" anything, but I wanted to make a mad spree at the Disney store in DTD... I am a DISboarder and there is conflicting information, so I thought I would go to the source :) Thank you!*******

Disney's response********Thank you for contacting the Walt Disney World Resort. You must pick up the Birthday Fun Card from one of the theme parks. The Birthday Fun Card is good for one year from her birthday. If you have questions or need further assistance, feel free to contact us. Please include your full name, E-Mail address, and reservation number if applicable on all correspondence. Have a magical day! Sincerely, ________WDW Online Communications **********

I was just at The Magic Kingdom on my Birthday, June 26th. I was offered a $75.00 GC which is what I took. Or a fast pass for the four people in my party good for six rides on that date, now I recall Space Mountain was shut down, but not sure how many Fast Pass rides there are at the Magic Kingdom. I chose the GC because it seemed to make sense to me and sorry maybe being a little greedy too, but I had something in mind to spend it on that I wouldn't normally purchase.
Now I was told by the CM that the gift card never expires (good forever), but who knows who's correct. I spent the card that day. I kept the card as a keepsake, it'll look good in the wifes scrap book.

I found out that Disney recycles their gift cards on this trip and the CM's request to keep them when you use them up to be reused.
