What have you seen/done/heard about at Disney that's free??

We all spend a lot of time in the parks, but what have you found in Disney or the Orlando area that was free? Share your ideas and experiences!

That's a really good question. I'm curious about that too. There is another forum about saving money that you might want to post your question on as well.

A fun FREE thing to do is resort hopping You can use Disney transportation and hop from resort to resort. You can request a guide at guest services at most resorts that give you clues to find hidden mickey's. We stayed at the Animal Kingdom Lodge in December and searching for the Hidden Mickey's took us well over an hour, and we only found about half of them. It was fun though.

1) Resort touring
2) Riding the monorail around Seven Seas Lagoon
3) Riding the monorail on the Epcot run
4) Animal viewing at DAKL (3 savannahs)
5) Petting Zoo and playground at FW
6) Horse barn at FW
7) Walking Trail at FW
8) Riding the boats to the different resorts (Poly, GF, Contemporary, FW, WL
9) DTD water taxi to POR/POFQ
10) Going to the Boardwalk
11) Watching the Electric Water Pageant (Poly, GF, CR,FW, or WL)
12) Watching the fireworks form the beach at the Poly or 4th floor deck at the Contemporary

Just a few. . . . . .

Are you able to swim at other resorts when touring them? I remember I was able to on my last trip, but its been so long and I was wondering if the rules have changed.

There are a ton of things to do at the resorts that you almost never hear about like the Sassagoula River Cruise from Port Orleans to DTD, there is a toarchlighting cerimony at the Poly, a tropical bird exhibit on Parrot Cay at the Caribbean Beach Resort, storytelling nightly at the Animal Kingdom Lodge, musicians nightly at the Grand Floridian, street entertainers on the Boardwalk, a gyzer that errupts every hour on the hour at Wildreness Lodge, The Electrical Water Pagent on Bay Lake, not to mention free tours and other activities. This site has a bunch of different things listed. Just click on a resort and then click on "Recreation" for more info.

Free Coke from around the world at Ice Station Zero at Epcot, plus, soft drinks and beer dispensed from a tap often come in a sturdy plastic cup with WDW characters and themes on them. They constitute a free souvenier in my opinion and we use them for the same purpose at our cottage.

Technically; no, realistically. . . . . . . . . .

Not when you have to pay to get in.

Pool hopping isn't allowed at WDW Resorts unless you are a DVC Member then only at select pools. (You must have Membership Card and valid Resort I.D.) They do check resort I.D.'s ::yes::

Well thats dumb.....

Why is that dumb, your staying at a Value at one rate others staying at Deluxe are paying another rate...they started having trouble when so many people started going to SAB and the new pool at the Poly..the guest that where paying to stay there couldn't even find a chair to sit in.

In 22 years of going at least once a month I have never been or have I seen anyone asked. Now some will say just because you do not see it does not mean it does not happen, but in 22 years I would have seen at least 1 or 2 don't you think............................

I never was either during the first twenty years, but it is a fact I have even been requested to show my Resort I.D. while staying at the WL also at Beach Club SAB they have CM's that hand out towels and check I.D.'s "Sorry"

At the AllStars I believe you can use any of the pools at Movies, Sports, or Music.

Actually it is now fenced off and everyone gets an arm band. This altered my plans for going there. It is the only resort I do not swim at but have done so for years prior.

Just letting you know, if they are checking you will be asked to leave. It's Disney's Policy.

We had to show resort ID at the Grotto Pool at the Dolphin to get towels. DS's had to come back to room at WL to get resort ID at WL when they went to the pool without it. Of course, we always go at busy times of year (school-age children) so maybe that has something to do with it. But out of the 2 resorts where we've stayed and swam (we didn't use the pool at CSR) we've been asked for ID both times.

Wow, that's a tough question...
Someone already said Boardwalk but it is really fun, even for the kids. We have seen marching bands, magicians, storytellers etc but watch out for the "wants" with kids because there is also face painting, ice cream, games, and the ever famous merchandise.:hyper:
