For the past 10 days or so.. the lines have been minimal at the Fredericton, NB passport office.

If you arrive when it opens there is usually a line but after 11am ... almost nothing compared to what it was 5 weeks ago.

In case anyone is worried -- you need not be.

But also - don't wait till fall. They expect the US may be serious about the January 1, 2008 deadline for land crossings which will mean a fall rush on the passport office that will make this spring look like nothing.

Enjoy!

wow thats lucky. Im from Vancouver Canada, and I had to take my dad to the passport office. We got up at 6am, and drove there. It took us over 20 minutes to find a parking spot. Once we got close enough to the building there was a lineup down the street and around the corner. I looked at my watch and it was only 7:04am. We waited until 2pm that afternoon to get his passport. People had paid street bums to wait inline for them over night just so they could get decent spots. It was the craziest thing ive ever seen. And apparently its getting even worse now that the summer is closing in on us.

Not to brag...

But once again today -- Most people were in and out in about 75 minutes to 90 minutes. Most of that time sitting in the waiting area.

Lines are relatively light still in Fredericton.

Any pointers on what to do there? This is our 1st time there.
We are staying at the Wandalyn is this a good place?
Any suggestions?

They told me it was slow now, but come the fall.....

The Delta is a nicer hotel, as is the Crowne Plaza (Beaverbrook) downtown. I'm not sure how the rates compare, but for a 12th Anniversary, you might want to splurge a little.

As for restaurants, you could try the Blue Door, the Lunar Rogue (pub), Brewbakers, the Back Nine... all are downtown within a few minutes walk of the Beaverbrook.

Any more questions... just ask!

Great news, I've got to get on the passport thing already! We shop in Maine at least a couple times a month so we might as well get the passports done before the panic sets in this fall!

I second everything he said... the Wandalyn is probably "ok" but I'd rather stay the Delta. And all of those restaurants are yummy!! I especially love the Blue Door and Lunar Rogue.

And June 1 is my birthday ;) Happy Anniversary!

Thanks for the recommendations.
I wrote down all the places to eat.popcorn::
As for the Wandalyn we have booked the honeymoon suite(jacuzzi, fireplace)
for $125 per night. The Delt does look Great :cloud9: but we are on a tight budget due to trying to save for our Florida trip next Feb. The Delta is very much over our budget.:sad2:
The reason we picked Fredericton for this years anniversary is because we heard that there are nice walking paths we could do for free. If we end up with bad weather we'll walk in the mall. If Any other inexpensive ideas  let me know thanks.:)

June 1 is MY birthday too!! And I'll be celebrating it with Mickey, Minnie, Donald & Goofy! :)

In at least one case -- literally - I know a few CM's. ;)

As for the passport office.. the lines stayed very short all week. How not busy is it? Some of the offices that are currently over-stressed are offloading some applications on the Fredericton office to speed delivery for those other regions.. last I heard.

FYI - my co-worker went yesterday to the Fredericton Passport Office at around 2:50 and was completely done and walking out their doors at 3:05! :goodvibes
