Hi. We just adopted an 8-week old blue point siamese from the GA SPCA yesterday - now what do we name him? He has the brightest, lightest blue eyes ever and he's just gorgeous with the creamy body and blue/gray tips. Very feisty and fearless. His 7 month old "brother" is Toulouse, so Berlioze came to mind, but I really don't like that name...:confused3
We have a siamese cat. We did not know he was one until we got him. A girl that worked with me had a friend with kittens. Now mind you the mother was black and white the dad was calico and the kittens where the same expect for him. He was white in the photo we picked him from.
DH said if we got a kitten no boy and no siamese. :lmao:
He lost. He is my baby.

Maybe OT - but did you know that you can now buy Absinthe with real wormwood in it in the states? It's expensive, but very cool! Remember when they were drinking that in Dracula? :thumbsup2
I have a friend that is from England and when she went home a couple of years ago she brought some back. Holy cow is this stuff strong. I did not like it.

...OH- ITA men have PMS! DH just started about 2 years ago when he turned 40! I have to remind him he is being a butthead and he snaps out of it:rotfl2:

And MtBlu guess what!? I love the 1930's idea. For the past hour I have been listening to a station on Live 365 called Absinthe Radio! it is music from the 20's and 30', speakeasy era! I know- who would have thought I would be into that:lmao: I get in some strange moods! I think that may have been yet another past life for me!

But I think that pilot idea is great! Or do an Adventurer's Club/Ernest Hemmingway kind of Safari look!- how handsome!:lovestruc

We better see pics!!!!:cool1:
:scratchin That's a GREAT idea! It might, actually, be easier to put together a Hemmingway outfit than a pilot outfit. I'll take your idea to the boys. Older DS is rooming with a guy that is majoring in some sort of film making in college. The kids take all their ideas to him in the hopes he would know of costumes, locations for filming, etc. We'll see what they come up with when they put their heads together. Thanks, Madd! :thumbsup2

Awwww! Youngest DS LOVES cats. We have 3 siamese mixed males and he names them weird stuff....like one he named 'Whiny' because the cat sounds like he is talking to you when he meows. :sad2: How about 'Hector' for your kitty?

Ok, now I have to run to Google for a minute....be right back! :moped:

I actually came in to post a photo of what my view is while we are having the house painted.

Picture072.jpg

This might be part of what is pushing DH over the edge. He is such an 'outdoor guy' and it is driving him nuts not to be able to see out the windows....or even open them.

He actually slipped her a note and asked her how much longer we would have to keep the windows shut when he gave her another check for the paint. :guilty: Poor thing...I know she is doing the best she can. princess:

mtblujeans-I think that would make me grumpy too. I have to have my windows. I don't even like having curtains or blinds or anything if they interfere with my view.:confused3

I know they just started selling it here in the states about a year ago, there are only a few brands so far.

I bought mine on the internet from Europe and the shipping charges were crazy! I still beleive the brands in Europe are much better than those sold here in the States. Maybe in time- people will demand a better product. I drink mine sparingly b/c of the cost.

Well do you remember what other movie Absinthe was featured in????? Of course it is a Mr Depp movie.

From He!!!

I thought I remembered that, but haven't seen that movie in awhile, whereas I watch Dracula all the time! Why am I not surprised you had the pics to go along with this? What a cool little contraption mr. depp is drinking from. Absolutely beautiful pics! Well, that explains why I did not feel the effects of the absinthe to my liking, or maybe I just need to drink more! :scratchin

For mint you can also make a mint pesto but the only thing I can think of that it is good with is lamb SORRY! Mojitos are yummy and if you like bourbon you can always make mint juleps. I also put mint in my tabouleh. I could live on that stuff in the summer.

:guilty: Poor little lamb.....I DO love the idea of the tabouleh!!! I am havng a little get together next month celebrating our porch being done. We are going to have "picky foods" I can make the tabouleh and cut up some pita bread to dip!!!! We might even have some mint left over for Mojitos!:cool1: Thanks for the "herb advice" Marna!!

OMG- I LOVE siamese cats! They are absolutley beautiful and they love to talk! I am not sure about a name- Mom has 2 Japanese Bobtails and for the male, I went to the bookstore and found a Garfield Cat Name book:rotfl2: I chose the name Katzenjammer- since we have a German last name I thought it was fitting. He lives with her (DH and I are highly allergic) but my last name is on his papers b/c I purchased him. We call him Jammer for short.

Maybe you can do a Google search for a name??:confused3

Let me tell you- I feel for your DH! I work from home, in the basement. It gets pretty depressing down there in my hole:rotfl2: I finally subscribed to "GotomyPC" and I can now work upstairs or on the porch and I feel like a human being again.

The past 2 days I have actually been working from bed b/c of my back! GoToMyPC is a beautiful thing!:worship:

Your DH just needs some fresh air and sunshine!;)

BHAAA!:headache: My ice bag leaked:rotfl2: I went to get out of bed and my back felt funny- It leaked all down my back and on the bed- my back was SO numb from the ice I did not eve realize it:lmao:

Well, at least I can laugh about it:lmao: But maybe that is b/c of the percocets:rotfl2: :rotfl:

Kellie- Can I ask you something? My boss has to get a breast biopsy- however, she needs to get a stereotactic breast biopsy. She is freaking out b/c she has read that it really hurts. The lump is closer to her armpit and she is scared of the "squishing" part.

I, personally, would be afraid of the needle part of the biopsy. Squoosh all you want- just keep the needle away!

Have you had one done? How about anyone else here??

They called in what call my happy pills. (valium) I will take this on the ride in. Then when I get there they will give me a couple of shots they said. So we will see how it works.
For your boss tell her do not worry the sound is the worse part. They did this with me the second time. They made sure I was very numb. They should make sure she is a 100% numb before during it. Tell her it is very very fast. I think it took longer to set me up than to do it.
The worst part was the sound. I did jump at little. (not a good idea).
Do you know if they are putting in lead wires before they do it? That is what hurt me. But they did not do those until the day of my surgery.
I will keep happy thoughts for her.

She said before they take her in they we going to put in the fish hook:lmao: That is what she said. She was not happy about that.

they did the wires on me they day of the surgery. The DR that did the right side was great. The DR that did the left side decided to see what I could handle before giving me anything. I have never yelled so loud. That hurt. When we told the surgeon what she did her face got so red. She told me to hold on and went and called the DR and yelled at her. My surgeon said if I could not handle it then it was bad.
So tell her to make sure the numb her first and make sure she is numb before they do it.

Thanks Marna - after ICING my back (thanks IAHD! ) 1600mgs of Motrin and 650 mgs of percocets in my system my pain is finally dulling:rotfl2:

Let me ask you about your basil- Mine are getting huge! I want to trim them back b/c there aree some little babies coming up underneath! I have to give them room! I was just telling mom yesterday about the herb ice cubes I get at Trader Joes! When you make pesto- do you just blend up the stems and leaves too:confused3 and Is that what you did for your cubes, you added the stems??

You should see my mint! I have pineapple, chocolate and apple mint! They are growing like crazy! The apple mint are growing "legs" right onto the driveway:scared1: :rotfl2: And those suckers are hard as a branch! We just got our driveway blacktopped and I am afraid the darn things are going to tear it up!

So Marna, or anyone else!- any recipes (besides Mojitos! :thumbsup2 ) we can use for all of the mint??

I used heat forever UNTIL I went to the chiropractor for the 1st time. He said to use ice to bring the internal swelling down - just like you would if you bumped yourself and had an external bump. I usually take an ice pack or ziplock bag full of ice (squeeze all the iair out 1st) and wrap it in a kitchen towel or face cloth to "dull" the coldness a little, but oh it feels soooooooo good!

I miss our baby "Sky" who was almost exactly how you describe your kitten  When Sky was a baby he was all white with blue blue eyes. As he got bigger/older he got a greyish color.

I thought I remembered that, but haven't seen that movie in awhile, whereas I watch Dracula all the time! Why am I not surprised you had the pics to go along with this? What about Bram.....or Stokes.....for the Dracula connection.

TMI ahead so if you don't want a visual don't read on....

A question? My GF who had a biopsy a few years ago said that they had her lay face down on this table with 2 holes in. The holes were for her "girls" to go through :scared1: . Then they raised the table and the doctor was under her where he took his insrument and did the biopsy. She said it was like someone punched her chest at the location where the needle punctured for the biopsy. We laugh about the visual it gives but she said it was one of the most humiliating experiences she has ever had at a doctors office. Now I don't know if this is standard practice or if it depends on the location of the lump of what but I wanted to know if this is something standard or not? I've never asked anyone else about it as I haven't had a lot of connection to people who have had a biopsy done on that body part. Anyway, IF this is standard I would warn a friend about the possibility of this barbaric torture table she may be put on as it might be somewhat of a shock :confused3

Then again maybe my girlfriend was pulling my leg :confused3

Skyy is on our list :) It is hard when you lose a cat, especially a siamese. We lost our 15 year old chocolate point in December and had to adopt 2 kitties so far to even come close to replacing him!

I like the Bram idea too - with those great vampire "light eyes." A big problem I am running into is trying to please everyone, including our 5 year old!

I like Bram 1st but other ideas that are dracula induced.....
Vlad, Renfield (Reny for short and the kids can think Ratatouille even though its Remy), Kipling, Nosferatu

If you wanted to stay with Aristocats you could do Edgar (the butler), LaFayette (one of the hounddogs), Waldo (the goose uncle). I like Edgar the best out of those though.

I totally understand the agreement on the name thing though, THATS the hardest part!

That ladies is what you call a core biopsy. It is a wierd way to lay for a few minutes. The table is not built for short women. I had one of them done. It did feel strange.
I do not think it was humiliating but wierd. I think of as a mamo lying down. Because they do the same thing to you. They just press you in a whole new way:lmao:

I am so out of the loop. I have been busy looking for a house closer to the university and today we found one and sealed the deal. Packing is just a big pain in the BUM :lmao: and this heat is just awful:eek: . So how is everyone? Big hugs for everyone and an extra one for Kellie

So did anyone get in on the Barbie House Party. I noticed they moved it over and so far no email for me:mad: :goodvibes

Theresa, did you buy a new house?

:guilty: Poor little lamb.....I DO love the idea of the tabouleh!!! I am havng a little get together next month celebrating our porch being done. If you are gonna have mint jelly, a good dip is putting the mint jelly over a softened block of cream cheese and serve with crackers.

No not yet we are renting for a couple years while we wait until DH graduates with his masters in accounting. We are thinking about relocating then to Chicago or New York. Only time will tell where we end up.:goodvibes

:lmao: I sniffed it, then put it in my mouth- it was OK- but I hate hard peppermint candies, so I tossed it:rotfl2:

Hey Flaky- I can wrap it back up and send it to you as an initiation into the Freap Chat thread :rotfl2: You asked for something free.:lmao:
:scared1: OMG I started laughing so hard I think I peed my pants:rotfl2:

Where is the link for Depends?:woohoo:
