FREAP CHAT ~ Everyone Welcome!

Hello fellow Freeps!

I am back after a long hiatus. My sister, who has been battling brain cancer since January, passed away at the beginning of August. She has 2 teenage daughters that my family and I have been trying to help through their grief while trying to manage our own.

I posted my first freebie today since she passed. I feel like I need to try and get back to normal things in life. Besides, some of the comments have been pretty funny over there lately.

I talked about her cancer a little bit on the Freebie Thread and many of you made such supportive comments. Thank you.

What a sad loss. Prayers for you and your family.

So sorry about your loss. :grouphug: I have a really beautiful poem I will pm to you later. I lost my mom 4 years ago and I still read this book/poem again and again - I find it comforting...

I'm on the phone with customer service-- lol i wouldn't call but the shirt i ordered was pretty crappy and i only ordered it so i could get the jacket. The jacket isn't much of a loss but oh well.

They are sending me a new jacket and a return label for this one. So that's nice. LoL i hope they enjoy the useless jacket. Ill know better next time.

ETA: She said the jacket may be expired so i may end up with something else. Oh well- better than nothing, I guess.

:scratchin maybe that's why they're giving them away for free:rotfl: ....we like good freebie's not crapy ones....:rolleyes1

Hey Jen!

I am sorry again for the loss of your sister:hug: Glad to see you back!

:grouphug: Our thoughts are with you! It sounds like you're doing exactly the best that you can do in your situation. Good luck with the girls, what a tough thing for them to go through. Glad you're there for them. We'll be here for you! :grouphug:

All the talk about motorcycles this morning got me thinking about my ex and our adventures when we were teens. I had to go into town to have the oil changed on my car and I was remembering skipping school and going to the beach on his bike all those years ago. He had a sissy bar on the back and I used to lean back on it and tilt my head back so my face was getting the sun....even with a helmet on. I must have looked weird to the other drivers but riding on the back of that bike always made me feel like I was flying! :cloud9:

Sounds like you guys had fun!;)

I told DH the day we went on our "little adventure" that a day in the rain riding a Harley is better than any sunny day @ work!:cool1:

I was actually looking for a rainbow after the rain. He said- "I have my rainbow sitting right behind me" - I said "No dear, I am your little ray of sunshine, remember":lmao: :rotfl2: BARF! We were cracking up.

And Suz- you know what- I think most people who see you enjoying yourself on the back of the bike are wishing it was them, not that you are crazy! :sad2:

We had a mom in a mini van with a bunch of kids in the back give us a thumbs up one time! We have police officers and just people at red lights asking about the bike.

And you are not alone- I always put my arms out like I am flying- I don't care who the heck thinks I am crazy! My SIL has her own Sportster and she tells me when she rides- she screams and lets it all out while she is riding she loves it so much!:rotfl2:

Im not that happy because i paid for an ugly shirt just to get it-- and i dont like the shirt (you cant expect much for 1.99-- but it was $7 with shipping )-- and then my jacket falls apart:scared1:

ETA: It never did see the dryer-- there was no need at that point.

Maggi- OMG- that is crazy! :scared1: I am surprised b/c it is not like they have "cheap" clothing!

No they dont. I order from them on occassion without the incentive of a free gift. I was a little shocked myself. I guess it was a promotional jacket though so ofcourse-- in order to be free they couldnt send out the highest of quality. Although they are sending me another something- she said she thought it was a jacket btu didnt even know the color.

Welcome back, Jen. I will say some extra prayers for you and your family today.

So i put it in the washing machine, gentle cycle... and this is how it came out.

I didn't even get the opportunity to wear it once!

Wow that's horrible! I haven't ordered from Chadwick's in years, but my mom used to order from them back in the 80s, their stuff was OK back then. I hope they send you something to make up for it!

Can someone please explain the "subscribing" that goes on periodically on the freebie thread? I started participating on this sight back in the spring, but I never "subscribed".... I don't know what they mean by that. I have seen it before but only worked up the nerve to show my stupidity and ask about it now...

people subscribe to the thread to get e-mail notifications and also so that they can have that little box icon on the thread so that they know which threads they are interested in seeing as they come back up to the top. It's a way to keep track of something.

Instead of posting "subscribe" they can go to the "Thread Tools" located in each thread and then click on subscribe to this thread-- it eliminates them having to post and free's up a lot of space!

Thank you! I just always wondered! I never could figure out why they wrote that, figured it was a waste, but just didn't know what they were doing! Now that I've exposed myself! Oh well! I'd rather be educated!

Hello Freaps- it's been awhile.

Jen- I am sorry about your loss. I am coming up on the anniversary of my MIL death from cancer, and it is a loss that you keep on feeling. My thoughts will definitely be with you as you go through this difficult time.

And on to a lighter subject. . .All you Harley riders out there, how dare you knock the Beemers. :scared1: My DH and DFIL have a collection of BMW bikes, which has continued to grow since my MIL died 3 years ago. FIL says he needs a hobby. . .I say, you only have one bottom (yes, I used another word, but don't want the DIS police after my bottom) so why would you need all these bikes? Two of them have sidecars, which my Dkids love. And yes, they have little kid helmets to wear in the sidecars. The funniest though, was when FIL picked up my niece from daycare when she was 1 1/2, so he had her carseat buckled into the sidecar.

DH has not been riding as much since the kids were born. He too has concerns about all the crazy drivers out there, not paying attention. I am hyper alert about motorcycles because of DH and FIL. Especially since I bumped my DH, then Dboyfriend, on his bike at a traffic light with my car. It still gets brought up at holiday gatherings. Bike and man were ok, just a banged up side case.

Ok, enough babble. Just don't dis (get it DIS!!! :rotfl2: yep, I have the sense of humor of a third grader) the BMW.

I don't think anyone actually mentioned bmw's.....:confused3 ....GOLDWINGS-YES :rotfl2:

I was just thinking the same thing! :confused3

Actually, When DH said someday he might want to move up to a dresser, he said he was thinking about a BMW. I am the one who said, first, dressers are for old people and 2nd, IF you get one it's gotta be a Harley.

He still likes the one BMW that looks like you can go through the safari with it. It has hard bags on the sides.

Actually, I did. My DH had one along with his Harley a few years ago. His friend had a BMW, and he belonged to a really cool club, so DH wanted to belong. He really enjoyed riding it, it was a totally different experience. Those guys are kinda like the crotch rocket guys, but with sense. Most of them are older, in their 50's..they like to "scoot", but not trying to kill themselves or others. My comment about hating it was purely from a passenger point of view. I liked riding the Harley sitting straight up with my back supported. On the Beemer, I had to hunch over and it just wasn't comfortable to me in the least. I hated riding on the back of it.
