FREAKING out

Thank you all so much for your responses!! They've really calmed my nerves and I appreciate it so much. This is out of my control and I 100% trust Disney so I know it will be ok...driving and about 5 hours from Port Canaveral. Looking forward to an awesome cruise!:)

Everyone else has already given you the very wise advice that Disney will do everything possible to keep you and their billion dollar investment away from the storms. All I'll add is that in all our years of traveling, some of my fondest memories are of the things that occurred when things did NOT go as planned. Adventures can be fun!

Have a wonderful cruise!

We sail in two weeks; I am actually crossing my fingers we miss a port day and we're at sea instead!! Love my at sea days!!:boat:
Me, too! When we sailed the Eastern on the Fantasy, after having two fun and luxurious days at sea, I remember feeling disappointed on the first port day, that I had to get up early and go to our excursion...

Maybe Disney should read all these comments and add a new cruise option that consists of nothing but sea days :)

DCL will do their best to avoid inclement weather, but sometimes there is no getting around it.

Impossible due to regulations unless it is between two different ports I believe.

I'm not going to even look at this video but thanks for trying to scare me lol

For some, research helps. I don't think they were trying to scare you, but to inform you of what could be possible. If I were that afraid I wouldn't book during hurricane season. If I were just under that afraid I would watch the video. Except I already did back when it happened.

I wasn't trying to scare you. That was probably the most extreme weather DCL has had to deal with and the ship didn't sink, not even close.

Bon voyage!

We were on the Fantasy during hurricane Matthew in October 2016. It actually worked out better I thought because we got to go to Cozumel twice and we got an 8 night cruise instead of a 7 night.

Currently freaking out over the weather for our cruise...we leave tomorrow on the Fantasy. Western Caribbean. There are currently two developments in the Caribbean...one way out in the Atlantic which has a strong possibility of developing into a hurricane and will be moving into the Caribbean by the middle of next week and one in the eastern Caribbean that's going to move west towards the Yucatán peninsula and has a medium chance of developing into a tropical cyclone by Monday. We're supposed to port in Cozumel Monday.

I know this is hurricane season and I bought travel insurance through DCL. Just someone tell me it's going to be ok! I'm just so nervous we're going to be miserable with rough seas and we'll have a bad time:( This cruise was EXPENSIVE being during peak season and we've been looking forward to it so much!

Would DCL possibly change itineraries in this situation? Just with the fact that there could be a tropical storm right where we're going? I would be TOTALLY fine with changing itineraries if it would mean not having super rough seas the whole time!

I've packed tons of sea sickness medicine and xanax. Lol I'm not new to cruising but have never had to cruise during a hurricane/tropical storm so this makes me nervous. Someone talk me out of this panic attack:sad1:

I will also add that hurricanes and tropical storms aren't predictable. Even if it looks like it will go in a certain direction it can shift and go in a completely opposite direction. Last year, there were two storms that might turn into hurricanes that might hit Disney World. As of one day beforehand, it looked like one (Hurricane Hermine) would smack into Disney World and our flight might be delayed for a while, or we would land and then have to ride out the first day with hurricane warnings. Turns out it grazed Florida (missed Disney World) right before we got on our plane to head down to Florida and we missed it on our way down (our flight was delayed by like 30 minutes). We went on a cruise 3 days afterwards, and the waves were a little choppy, but it calmed down by midnight that night.

Bottom line, Hurricanes and their path are notoriously difficult to predict. So you may or may not be able to port in Cozumel still. Two days is still a long time.

Latest reports show The Fantasy skipping Cozumel due to the storm path, extra sea day announced. Hope the seas remain calm for you!
