I am absolutely freaking out. I got a form letter from Miami-Dade College telling me that they dropped me from my class this semester because I didn't get a satisfactory grade in the pre-requisite course last semester. Well, I don't know what the heck they want since I got an A in the class. The only class I ever blew I repeated and got a C. No other classes less than a B.
Why was I dropped! If I can't take the class this semester it can be as long as 2 years before it will be offered again. I need this class to finish and it is the only one I need except for my Practicum.
I need some prayers and pixie dust that this is straightened out so I can take the class. I can't believe my rotten luck!

praying that it works out! Just call them, I'm sure it was a mistake

:grouphug: Hope you get it all straitened out.

Pay the counselors a visit and ask them what's up. Show them your grade.

School is closed until Jan 4 so there is nothing I can do until then. I have already emailed my dept head and the teacher of the class (who also taugt the last class)

What's the point in freaking out? It's obviously a mistake.

I can understand you're being upset but have faith that once they've figured out the mistake you'll be in the right.

I know, you wish you could fix it NOW, though, huh? January 4th seems light years away!

BTW, Jan 4th is a Sunday, did you mean the 5th? I know because it's my son's birthday!

Because it is the last class I need to finish the program and if I don't get it this semester it will be 2 years before it is offered again and I can't wait that long to finish and get my certification.

{{{{{{hugs}}}}}} It sounds like a simple mistake. I'm sure you'll get it worked out. :)

Got an email back from the professor and she can't believe it. She is contacting the department head as well. This prof teaches both classes, the pre-req and the one I was dropped from. Since we are a small department, she has had me for about half my classes and the department head for the other half save 2 classes with deaf profs.
I can say this letter was a real shock because I was actually expecting a letter stating I am on the Dean's list again.

I had a similar situation when I was graduating from college. It took a few frantic hours and a visit to the Dean of the English department at Purdue to get it straightened out. I still have nightmares about it 20 years later. Hope all is fixed SOON

Good to see it is already on the way to being resolved correctly, Lisa. Probably will be before reopening time. Take care, my best is with you. And congratulations!!!!!

I am not into the grading system (1.90 GPA Akron North Highschool 1978)

You should just be calm. I am sure that it will all be worked out. Colleges and Universities are HUGE places. There are a ton of students and mistakes do get made all of the time. Last semester for example, my grade report showed that I had received a "D" in my comparative politics class. This was ridiculous because I knew that I had an "A" in the class. I simply emailed the prof, who acknowledged that he must have accidently recorded the grade for someone near me in the alphabetical list, he sent a letter to the department head and all was sorted out. A far more scary issue was when I was getting my first degree. It was my final semester and I was told that I did not have the required math credits I needed to graduate because my AP Stat course did not transfer from high school to my college. The hassle in my opinion was that I had spoken to a couselor when I first started at that college and had subsequently met with the same counselor who had gone over my many AP transfer scores and duel enrollment transfer credits and never once mentioned the "issue" with the AP Stat course. I was frantic to get this issue resolved, and was adamant about not taking another math course (I was ready for my degree!!!!) it required me to get some special waivers signed by the dean of the college and the math department head. All turned out well.

Problem is fixed. I got an email from my department head and she has me reinstated. Said that I was not dropped by the department. I confirmed it by printing out my schedule and all is in order. Boy am I relieved! I have the best department head in the world. Really!
I had not planned on getting a degree in interpreting as I already have a BS. Well as soon as I get a trascript from my BS she will be setting the wheels in order for me to get an AS in interpreting. WOW!
