Freaking Out... Sept 22-30 crowds VERY high??

I looked at the Unofficial Guide online before booking our trip and it gave each of our days a 2 our of 10 for crowds.... now I look at the book and it gives 8's for each of our days!! I am freaking out over this all of a sudden... it's the whole reason that we're going during the school year, chancing it for hurricanes, etc... to avoid the crowds!! I hate crowds and so does the rest of the family and would put up with heat, rain and everything else to avoid them, so what gives?? Does anyone know if this is (fingers crossed real hard) this is a typo or mistake of some kind. I can't imagine what would cause a jump from a 2 to an 8 for a whole week and then back to a 2. I heard there was some kind of marathon but that doesn't seem to make such a difference, right?

Wow, I would really like to know too! That is the same week we are going and for the same reasons! Gosh, I sure hope that it hasn't changed!

I agree. I was almost flipping out too. Matter of fact, last time I looked at the online guide all our days were 2's, now some have any dropped to 1's.

We're going from the 24th to the 30th.

I was there around the same time last year, just after one of the hurricanes. (I can't recall which one, as there were so many). We were afraid we would have to cancel. But we ended up going and it was great. Never waited in line for anything. It never rained the whole week, which is very odd for that area. It was very hot and humid however, but we still had a great time.

You aren't crazy! I caught the huge difference between the book and online charts too. I was wondering what would account for that much of a change in predictions. I know that one of the main people behind the Unofficial Guide posts on these boards, so maybe he will stop by and explain. Also, there is an email address for them near the beginning of the book. I think it is way up before the charts even.

I'm glad I saw this because I was thinking about posting about this too. We are planning our trip (haven't set our dates yet) but are shooting for that week.

I hope this guide is accurate for the May dates. I was very worried about crowds the week after the 50th Celebration but this guide shows a "3" most of the week. I find this a little strange as most of the moderate resorts are at 90% occupancy.

I remember my family used to go the end of September when I was little, before I started school, to avoid crowds. I don't really remember those trips very well because I was under 5, but from watching videotapes, I can tell the place looked empty! I wish we could still go in September, but since there's 2 of us in school, we can only go in August all the time.

I agree the humidity can kill you it's so bad but once again we are going in late September to avoid the crowds!!!

I wouldnt' pick any other time to go..My DH and I went two years ago at that time and it was awesome..we are going at that time this year to celebrate our 1 year anniversary..I don't think we will ever go any other time than during the Sept/Oct months...It's just not worth it too our budget to spend all that money and have to wait for hours to get on a ride...Glad your able to go at that time and I feel bad for other that can't..

We have been 9 times in Sept. most that 3rd/4th week.
It is absolutely not going to be THAT busy. trust me.

PLEASE don't say that!! That just happened to us last year the first week of Nov. We went the first week of Sept in 2000 and it was great. We're going the last week of Sept this time. I'm hoping for the same crowd wise and hopefully less humidity!
