Freaking Out! DD sick, leaving Sat am

Hey everyone, let's just remember that the OP was just asking for advice. She never said, "I am planning on taking a child with HF&M disease to WDW. While I am there please help me pool hop, use a refillable mug my neighbor had left over from her 2004 trip, and bump into innocent bystanders with my double stroller." I know many of you are venting about the subject of people purposefully and knowingly exposing others to a contagious virus. The OP never said she had an intent to do that. Let's not make her feel so attacked. I think she has enough on her plate right now.

Just my two cents. I believe in giving people the benefit of the doubt.

OP, I hope your DD is feeling better. :daisy:

P.S. I am not trying to :stir: . I just feel badly for the OP for many reasons.
:rotfl: :rotfl: :lmao:

Hope the baby is feeling better! :wizard:

Hello all!

Well, dd19 months is still on the mend. But tonight, my other two children have come down with fevers and headaches. Ugh. I just called CRO and they were extremely helpful! They rebooked my exact package for the NEXT week. Hopefully, everyone will be on the mend by then.

We are bummed though, because as I mentioned before ds's birthday is next week when we were supposed to be there. We've decided to celebrate it anyway - just a week later.

Also, we've purchased tickets to MNSSHP for the 22nd, which are of course, non-refundable. We're trying to decide whether to spring for the tickets for the party on the 29th. We'll probably be deciding that in the next few days after we get a clearer picture of how everyone is health-wise. We definitely don't want two sets of unused non-refundable tickets if something else happens! I do know that in talking to CRO today, the other MNSSHP for that week is sold-out.

That's what we know! Thanks for your well-wishes.

My DD's had this a few years back. My oldest had it the worst and then my youngest got a milder case. Rescheduling is a great idea. They won't eat much of anything - because they can't. My oldest had such a huge blister under her tonque that even talking hurt. Popsicles and drinking with a straw worked the best for us along with Motrin. My prayers are with you!

This is just based on MY experience, so please keep that in mind, BUT, when we were there one Dec. and had tickets for MVMCP, DS came down with the flu and wound up in Celebration hospital.

We had tickets to 2 parties, and Guest Servies at the WL refunded one of the nights, and changed our other tickets to a different party night for us, so that we were able to go at a later date without having to buy new tickets.

Like I said..no promises, but they were more than accomodating to us.

Hope it all works out for you! :wizard:

I'm glad your DD is on the mend and you were able to reschedule! I bet you'll have a much better time with the kids healthy!
I'd still get DS an "it's my birthday" badge when you're here...(will I get flamed for suggesting such a shady thing?)
I second the reccomendation that you check with your resort @ exchanging tickets for MNSSHP. They can't say "yes" if you don't ask.
Blessings to you!

Even though the tickets say non-refundable, I would say contact someone at Disney and tell them of your situation. We were able to get ours exchanged for a different night last year. We had dinner reservations before MVMCP and about midway through dinner, I was starting to feel very queasy. Needless to say, we just headed over to our resort after eating and missed out on the party.

Once back in the comfort of our room, DH called and talked to someone at guest services and he was more than helpful in getting our tickets exchanged for the next available party date (which BTW, I was able to fully appreciate!).

Here's wishing you pixiedust: that you will get someone just as helpful as we did and you can enjoy the party sometime during the week you're there!

Kim :tink:

P. S. - Here's sending you some much needed :grouphug: that all your little ones will start feeling better soon!

Yes, I was thinking the same thing. They could do something about the tickets, just ask. I'm sure all will work out for the best. Good Luck! My prayers are with you and your little darlings for a speedy recovery and a wonderful vacation.

Many people have posted that Disney allowed them to exchange one night of mnsshp for another. Give a call.
Glad baby is feeling better- here is to a quick recovery for the others and a magical albeit belated trip!

I agree, ask about a refund for the tickets. We had non-refunable tickets for Mickey's BBQ and my DH became very sick that afternoon, with a stomach flu. We asked at the front desk at the CR if we could get a refund and were told no, (my kids didn't want to go anymore without DH). But, I and my three children went anyway and when we got to the Campgrounds we were told we could all be refunded if we wanted to. We ended up staying, but they did refund my DH's ticket. Hope everyone feels better soon!!!

My DS got sick the day of MVMCP. Guest services gave us a full refund without question.
I'm not sure that's the norm but it sounds like others have had a similiar experience.

I say make sure to pick a day out of the week you end up going and celebrates your daughters birthday then. Make sure to get an "It's my birthday badge" from town hall!

Hope everyone is feeling better soon!!

When my ds had to go to the hospital on the way down to MVMCP, disney refunded our ticket prices since there wasn't another party scheduled while we were there. I can't remember if I called CRO or the front desk at BWV but they just told me to go to concierge when I got to the resort and they would refund the tix. Hope everyone is doing better soon.

I hope all of your kids are well soon and that you all have a magical trip! :wizard:

Joni, I am almost positive that your tickets can be switched over to the other MNSSHP night as long as it still has tickets available. I would call that number soon and check with them before it sells out as well. Good luck, I am so sorry this happened to you. The only bright side is that when your new week rolls around you'll be glad your trip is just starting and not already over. Here's to speedy recoveries and a safe, wonderful trip!

What in the world is this disease? Haven't had kids at home for a long time now, so am not current, but this is a totally new one to me!

Well, now I'm at least hopeful that I might be able to exchange my MNSSHP tickets. But I'm confused about who to call. CRO told me non-refundable. I'm wondering how to go about getting the tickets for the 29th in exchange for the 22nd. Should I call the Poly? They sent me back to CRO last night, but were very helpful and suggested that I call if I had any more problems. I'm just not sure how to go about getting the tix from them? Would they hold them for me?

Help!

Try this; Call your resort early around 8:30AM or late 9:00PM and ask for a front desk manager. They may be able to coordinate with Guest Services for you and get this solved! Good luck!!!!! You sound like a great mom, I know you will have success working this out for your family :sunny:

Thanks for the info Daryl. While I did get passed around a lot in the phone system, I was finally able to talk to Shirley in ticket services. She is going to exchange our tickets for another date while we're down there. I have to send tickets back and may get more in the mail, may not (they may keep at will call). But she said, that I do get to exchange them. :thumbsup2
She made a note in my ticket res. that stated that we were exchanging them. She assured me that even if they sell out, because of this note, I will get the tix! I am so thrilled. She did advise calling next week, just to check back. That's always a good idea anyway! =) I do plan on copying my original documents before resending them. Call me paranoid. =)

On the health front, dd19 months is much better today. Still a bit fussy, but I think she's tired and turning into a bit of a diva b/c things have been "her way" lately since she's been sick. My other two children did both go to bed with fevers and aches last night, but woke up in good spirits this morning and fever-free. In investigating coxsackie yet again, I saw that some children do just get fevers and aches. Let's hope that's the case for them. Those mouth sores seemed horribly painful for my youngest!

Thanks again for the many thoughts and prayers. I'll keep you guys posted with any new info. I appreciate all the advice, thoughts and well-wishes. I feel obligated to post an awesome trip report upon our return! =)

We see this frequently this time of the year in the ER. Treatment is symptomatic Tylenol for fever. (our pediatricians are no longer recommending Motrin due to the increased incidence of gastrointestinal bleeding in children) We also discharge parents with the "Magic Mouthwash" solution our is 1/3 Benadryl, 1/3 Mylanta, and 1/3 viscous lidocaine. With smaller children their mouth can be wabbed with a Qtip for bigger kids they can gargle and spit. (This solution is not to be swallowed)

Sorry your kids are sick. Having to change your plans really stinks, but I guess it is better than going with sick kids. What happens with your ADR's? Can you switch them? Hopefully you have a wonderful vacation next week .pixiedust:
