OMG can I say I almost had a heart attack today????

I called to check my ADR's for our trip...

the lady(CM who was VERY VERY RUDE AND ARGUMENTATIVE AND NOT HELPFUL) tells me in a VERY SNIDE voice...

"all of those are CANCELLED...."

"WHAT THE ^%$&^**" I was thinking but I stayed calm and talked to her in a firm but nice tone saying...

"there is NO WAY I cancelled every single ADR I made..."

take note here we have CRT and the dresses to wear there....

She says "don't get an attitude with me...."

WHAT????? Not, wait a min lets see how we can work this out, so you have paperwork or a confirmation number??? I am sure we can get to the bottom of this ma'm.. NO she tells me to "Settle down...!!!!!!!!!!!!"

I did not yell at her but I did say there is no way I cancelled my ADR's that I made EXACTLY 90 DAYS OUT!!!! And am leaving for tomorrow with three kids and the dining plan....

She was a complete rag. I had to be the ONE to get the situation handled...I remembered that I had my confirmation numbers upstairs so I pull into my drive (I was in the car on the way home from work and the bank...) and kept her on the phone while I got out my planner and itenerary...

low and behold, they were there...

here was the problem...

I made a set of ADR's including CRT under my name...(my married name)
my TA made a set of ADR's under dh name...
I am traveling under my previously married name due to paperwork and ID's not being changed yet. So the TA had some and I had some...I then called and cancelled the ones I did not want as to leave more space for other diners, didn't feel like I needed two sets of ADR's and thought it was unfair HOWEVER I am thinking it might have been good for us at least and we could have been more flexible but I am Miss "fair" and "do the right thing"
So she read the set off to me that I cancelled....

FINE...I knew when calling this might happen and was prepared for something, it has been a long time since all the plans were made...but I guess I was peeved at her crazy attitude. All of the CM's I have encountered over the phone have always been VERY helpful, cheerful and talkative but she was down right HAPPY to be the bearer of bad news, i could hear the "hahahaha" in her voice...you all know what I mean. She was very mean to me IMO

Lesson 1:

change all paperwork after the marriage RIGHT AWAY :)
except for I had kids with their dad's name and I had a hard time transitioning from one to the other...

Lesson 2:

Keep CONFIRMATION # with you at all times!!!

Lesson 3:

There will always be someone in life willing and happy to cause conflict and you can tell who those people are, even in their voices...stay true to you and don't let it freak you out!!

I am glad I used my head and stayed calm on this. I really was FREAKING when she told me the news.

OK ready to go now... :earsgirl:

As much work as I have put into planning which restaurants and when to eat at them, I would have died if I thought all of them were cancelled.

You know that happened to me also!!!

I told my mom I wished I had made a ressie for Kona Kafe on the 4th - but we had Ohana and their menu changed, I wasnt prepared to cancell Ohana... so mom, bless her heart, called and made a ressie with her name and her resort confirmation number....

well after all the posts and pictures I called mom to tell her she is going to LOVE Ohana, and it will be perfect for our first night, that's when she tells me about the other ressie, she gave me the number and told me to cancel...

so I call... to cancell.... and then I thought "what if..."

... and darn if that Kona ressie wasnt under my phone number (and they must have caller ID btw!!) I felt like such a "cheat"!!

Bottom line, I didnt freak out, but I still call to confirm my ressies, some are on my cell phone number, some are on my home phone, but when I call CRO to ask about adding a cake, they all show up!!

Is it October yet? I need a vacation!! :teeth:

When I called the other day to confirm ALL of my stuff (14 things total) the CM said "Oh, there will be a small fee for that." It caught me off guard, but I actually WOULD have paid for it! I said "Really?" She started laughing and said "No." Luckily everything was the way it should be.

But I will be calling back again the day before we leave. ;)

I found that it was helpful to print out a list of all our ps/adr in the hotel lobby during check in. They gave us individual slips of paper to hand to each restaurant as we arrived and I felt better seeing it on paper.

I have an Excel chart divided by days. Dinner ADR's have their Confirm #'s in the proper days and times, including where this place is (ie Citricos is in the Grand Floridian) and how to get there.

DH thinks I over plan but when I had to call and switch restaurants, I knew just where to look for the confirm #'s. And my CM (Sybil Ann) was just adorable about making the change...I'm sorry yours was bad.

Keep those confirm #'s !! And plan, plan, plan...so you can have fun, fun, fun when you get there.

Looking forward to December,
MHF

That's a great idea. It never occured to me that the hotels would have the info at check-in, but it makes perfect sense.

Me too!

Thanks, I feel far less insane now. DH likes to laugh at my spreadsheet, but I caught him peeking at it. :)

I get so paranoid about this I leave myself a voicemail message on our home phone with all the confirmation numbers. That way if there's some problem I can call home, get my message and my numbers. I also write them down for my wallet, dh's wallet and have them written down in my trip folder. I read disboards enough to know weird stuff can happen with those ADR's!

If a cm is rude to me like that I just hang up and call back and you will automatically get a new person. Why put up with that rudeness when you can just call back and get someone new?? ;)

I'd have to agree with DisneyFan3...

There is no reason to have to deal with rude, arogant people in any situation, especially when it is so easy to just hang up the phone and call back. The CM you spoke with probably gets her jollies from passing along bad news. She is in the wrong profession (as in working for Disney) and eventually if her bad attitude is discovered by her supervisors, her days there will no likely be numbered. IMO

I'm glad that it all worked out for you and have a great vacation!!!

Wow, I'm sorry that CM was so incredibly rude to you. Did you happen to catch her name? I would seriously call and let someone know about her behaviour.

Something similar happened to me a few weeks ago. Everytime I make changes to my ADR's, I have the CM verify ALL of my ADR's at the end of the phonecall.

They always ask me for my phone number. Well, this time I told her 1 in front of our area code and she says, "I don't have any ADR's for that number". Well, I was just about to lose it, when she asks me for my phone number again. This time I remembered I always just tell them the area code and phone number, but do not add the 1 in front of it. She was very nice about it, but I was almost gonna lose it.

Next time, get the CM's name, hang up, and call again.

Whoo -- I would have died! Glad it all worked out for you.

I called today to confirm ADRs for Dec (wanted to allow plenty of time to make new ones if there were any snafus). As I was holding for a CM, I had visions of them somehow pulling them all up and somehow accidentally cancelling them all in one fell swoop by hitting the wrong key. Luckily everything was as it should be -- I checked it against my Excel spreadsheet (so glad to know I'm not the only one!!) as she read them off.

Lesson 5: Don't drive while talking on the cellphone when you are freaking out about some dinner reservation.

BTW, I'm glad it worked out. ;)

When I called to confirm our ADRs for our trip last week, the CM was also a little rude. She said that confirming was not necessary, and the number was the confirmation enough. I said I just wanted to double check. I was kind of worried she would not even look them up for me, but she did. I really doubt I am the first person she has talked to who wanted to confirm. But, maybe I am? What have these boards done to me?? :teeth:

I agree with the above posters. Don't put up with that kind of disrespect, you are the customer. I would either ask for a supervisor or hang up and call again. Glad it all worked out.

Don't you wonder about someone like that, why would they even apply for a job in customer service?
