Anyone know when or if DCL will announce whether this cruise will be redirected to other ports/days at sea due to the expected bad weather? It would be nice to know in advance where we are going.

I'm wondering about the ships even leaving port in the first place. Since the storm will be coming through on the Saturday and Sunday departure days, will the ship leave through it? I would doubt it. Anyone know?

(I feel for you guys on it. I'm not on this one but am scheduled for October, which is still hurricane season. I'm sure Disney will make it right for you somehow.)

Lots of info on the hurricane frances thread....

some have called DCL and have gotten various responses from "a decision will be made on thur/fri" to "the captain makes the decision and will be concerned about present passengers safety".

DCL has Ft. Lauderdale, Miami, and Tampa as possible alternative ports--and I suspect that it is indeed up to the captain of where he parks the ship when they are all done. Unfortunately we have to sit and wait until he is about done with the present cruise before we know anything.

The cruise will happen come hurricane or high water--but these two items will be avoided of course in the interest of safety. :hyper:

Keep in touch with your TA and/or DCL directly and keep abreast of any changes so that you will know exactly where to go on Saturday :)

Happy Sails!

OMG--I can't read--so sorry--so used to talking about the Magic!!!

Your Thursday depature should be as normal from PC, please call DCL today and see what you can find out. Everyone has been talking about the magic thus far.

Frances isn't threatening the Bahamas until Friday--so your departure should not be affected, though your itinerary will be affected.

But as I said before--the cruise will happen.

One thing you can be sure of is that the ships will NOT be in port in the hurricane is definitely headed in that direction. The safest place for any ship is at sea during a hurricane. In fact, with Hurricane Charley, PC ordered the last remaining ship to leave early due to the approaching weather.

Since hurricanes are so unpredictable, it is highly unlikely that the Captain, or anyone at Disney, can give you a revised itinerary more than a few hours prior to your boarding. Revised ports will also be subject to damage received at potential ports of call. Good luck on your trip.

I have received several calls today from my TA (All Seasons Travel) and must say that they have gone out of their way to make sure that we feel safe, secure and satisfied with our plans -
Chuck Maida (President) called and let me know that as of right now, nothing has changed, and that Disney has asked for our hotel and flight reservations, phone numbers, etc. JUST IN CASE.
I also have the phone number for Disney.

I am very glad that I do have a travel agent working for me because he can get answers from Disney doing volume business than I can with just a repeat cruiser request!

I just called DCL to check something regarding my December cruise, and the first item on the menu was:

If you're travelling on the the Sept. 2 Wonder or the Sept. 4 Magic cruises, please press one.

You might want to give DCL a call.

I don't know the number to DCL. Please advise. Anyone out there that has already called, please let me know what they are saying. Thanks

Chuck

Currently the only changes that have been announced is that the Wonder on 9/2 will only be at sea--no Nassau or Castaway Cay. This is for the safety of everyone aboard.

No further updates on the Magic for 9/4
