My son fractured his pinky playing dodgeball and is wearing a splint. The doctor said no sports for 3 weeks, and also no swimming but can go in water. He is not supposed to get splint wet. We are supposed to go to Orlando on Mon. and was wondering if there is such a thing as a waterproof splint? He will be going to see orthopedist in 2 days (couldn't get appointment till then so went to walk in clinic),

not sure what type of splint they put on, but when I broke my finger I had a plastic and foam covered splint. You were able to get it wet. I would follow up with an orthopedist and see what your options are.

I don't know about a waterproof splint but I do have a suggestion for a splint cover. Do you know what finger cots are? They are like little bitty condoms that are worn on the finger. I would think that could be a possibility to help keep the whole thing dry.

Good luck, have fun and wave "Hi" to Orlando for me!!

You can buy splints at Walmart or in any drug store. Some of them are waterproof/plastic. Even if you don't get the a waterproof one you can get one to use for swimming and keep one to wear when he is not.
