FQ/WL Booking Question

We might split FQ and WL next year. We have FQ (6n, 7d) booked right now so adjusting down won't be an issue. If we do split, my worry is not getting a standard WL room (we have a back up resort but WL works better with travel plans).

My questions are- would you book WL to be safe and cancel if you aren't going to split? (And apply discounts later)

Or, would you wait to book WL until you are positive you will split (after room only discounts come out)?

If I do book, I probably won't adjust the current reservation we have right now anyway. We would like to split but our minds change every day about it. What do you suggest from your experience?
Thanks!

Edit to add: our back up resorts are the FW Cabins or OKW).

The WL has been filling up fairly quickly. If I was sure of my travel dates and didn't plan to change them, then I would go ahead and book now. One thing to keep in mind is that Disney won't let you add or drop days unless there is availability for your new dates.

Yeah if WL is important to you then I'd book it now and then wait to see if you can get a discount applied later. With the DVC expansion at the resort there are fewer cash rooms available. As far as transportation goes for the resorts you're looking at FQ beats all of them really. It only shares with POR at slow times during the day, otherwise it has it's own dedicated bus and only one stop. WL busses share with FW and/or CR. The boat to MK is nice and relaxing though and the ambiance of the hotel is pretty amazing.
