FQ Room Decor

I know that FQ is a very popular resort but I was looking at some pictures of the rooms and they almost seemed like the decor was a bit cheap and tacky looking (that's the mardias gras theme I guess) ,I have a ressie there for 3 nights but after taking a closer look at some pictures I am having 2nd thoughts(although the grounds look very nice)I would appreciate any opinions you could share.

We stayed there for four nights last week. I was afraid it would be cheesy or gawdy, but it wasn't. My DH loved the room and wanted to stay put and not transfer to AKL because it was so nice. The rooms are somehow "tamer" in person and the grounds are beautiful. I'd stay put if I were you.

I thought it was nice. The dark woods match up nicely with the pale yellows of the bedspread. Maybe it was a picture before the refurb?

We stayed there for a week last year and were very pleased. We did not get the impression that the interior was cheap. Everything was very nice.

Thanks everyone for the quick responses ,cheesy and gawdy those are the perfect words to describe the pictures I was looking at, I am glad to hear it is much better in person because the grounds look very nice and it does seem to have alot of devoted fans plus I got a good AAA deal with the dining plan,When did they finish with the refurb? I think you will have a great time if the room decor does not bother you. It's overall a lovely resort, but like you, the decor does absolutely nothing for us. We've stayed there, but won't be going back. It wasn't a "bad" stay or anything, but it did not feel as magical to us as the Caribbean did or even as magical as the All Stars did. Just an opinion, but for now look at other things at your resort and get excited about those. Either way you'll have a great time!

I almost forgot to mention that we stayed there before the rehab. Maybe that has done something more for it.

Oh no!!! The rooms are too gorgeous!!! The walls are a VERY light blue, the wood furniure is VERY nice and expensive looking. Theses rooms were the prettiest we've stayed in at Disney.

Kata, what other resorts have you stayed in? We found it quite beautiful! We really like it since the remodeling. I prefer it over any of the other moderates and any of the values! (We stayed at CBR for 10 days, not nearly as nice as POFQ, IMHO, although there were things we liked about CBR.)

Thanks for your response,this will actually be my 1st time staying onsite and I also have ressies at AKL conceirge for 2 nights(sunrise safari) and 3 nights BWI following the FQ stay so I am only going by pictures on various websites and the rooms didn't look very impressive and I have be considering switching to my 1st 3 nights in a standard room at AKL.Thanks for your feedback I really appreciate it!!!!!

We stayed there for a few nights last Sept and we just came back last night from a trip to CSR. We liked both of them for different reasons. We really like the theming of CSR and Pepper Market is the BEST! We really like the way the rooms are set up better at POFQ (we really like the divider curtain). We would definitely stay at both again. HTH

We stayed in a king bed room at FQ in January for one night before moving on to WL. Both DH and I commented that the decor in the FQ room was much prettier than our WL room.

ArielsMommy, I agree! We stayed at both POFQ and CSR last year and I would definitely stay at both again...each for different reasons. (I agree the Peppermarket rocks!) Honestly, I've enjoyed every Disney resort that I've stayed because they are all so different!

I do not think the POFQ rooms are tacky to say the least! They were all refurbished in 2004 as well. The grounds are BEAUTIFUL too! If you get there and don't like the room decor, consider that you aren't going to be spending much time besides sleeping there (if you are like we are anyway!) Even if the room isn't your taste, I think you will definitely enjoy the rest of the resort!
