FPs and Upgrading to AP......

So we are a large party of 11 going to Disney World from 8/23/18-9/4/17. Because we're already getting 10 days tickets, I was thinking about upgrading mine to AP so that we can get the discounts and I can get a TiW card. But in reading what I can find, it sounds like this could mess up the FPs that I book for everyone 60 days out? (Just mine I take it) Can someone explain to me how it works? I've never been an AP holder before. Thank you

Why not wait and do the upgrade when you get there?

If you're all on a package, you have to have the same tickets to start anyway.

If you have free standing tickets, you won't be able to upgrade until onsite as well.

We will have free standing tickets. So upgrading when we get there will not interfere with my FPs?

Having FP+ requires that you have only a valid ticket attached to your MDE account. When you upgrade, you still have a valid ticket medium on your MDE account so you will not lose your FP. Also, I believe you cannot upgrade tickets to AP's over the phone. Even if you could, you would still have to activate your AP which requires standing in line at guest services so you won't save any time.

In Oct 2015 we had 8 day hoppers with which we made FP+ choices. The first day there we upgraded to APs at Guest Services in AK with no impact on our FP+ selections.
