FP+ Work Around, how to get more FP in a day thread?

I'd have a hard time trying this because wifi is soooo unreliable in the parks. I'm using iPod touch 5th gen & I haven't yet been able to keep the connection for long. Also the app itself has been unstable this week. I had concierge change some of my FP because of this.

Wow... seems like a lot of hassle! But.... at least for once Disney's somewhat incompetent IT people screw up in our favor. Don't know if it will be something that is still available when we go in the Spring or if it will be something I will have the energy to do.. but it sure is interesting!

This should actually be pretty easy to do, but when you try to dump the FP+ you just used for another one you can only get what's still available. This will probably work great during non busy times (like everything else Fastpass+) but when it's busy it's not going to get you much.

Wow. I'm way impressed KTP!

NEED MORE FIXES!!!! :lmao:

far too complicated for me to get my little head around to try, but, very impressed!!

If you are not interested in park hopping it seems like, if you are scared to try or worry about messing up your FP+, you could ride your first two selections and then play with the third. This way you are not out anything and at least get your three.

Honestly this makes me like KTP even less (not pleased with a couple of his Easywdw disses). Cheater cheater pumpkin(pie) eater.

It is essentially cutting in line in a very big way, again and again and again. WDW clearly intended only 3 FP+ and he is broadcasting in a very big way how to game the system.

Sincerely,
Miss Judgey Judgey Judgerson

I actually agree with this --- you're not beating "disney" you're beating other visitors...
the problem is that there isn't a "level playing field" for everyone at this point. Resort guests should have some advantages, AP should have some advantage and then EVERYONE else should be equals...disney hasn't done that yet.
but beating the "system" is really just beating that 4 yo girl waiting in line...you wouldn't skip her if you had to face her would ya?

I don't think it will be that easy. This is basically exploiting the time delay (between a guest redeeming a FP+ in the park and MDE seeing the transaction) to change the FP+ appointment before MDE records it as redeemed. They might have to put a delay of a minute or so into the system after a change request before approving it to defeat this, and that's going to make a bad application seem even worse.

It's not just the mobile app, the experience is just as bad from a PC.

I have been booking everything on a laptop in the room and just using my phone to check wait times. Trying to do anything else through the mobile app is pretty frustrating. The navigation and workflow is terrible.

The timing thing sounds way to tricky to pull off consistently. The performance of the mobile app is so bad that I can't imagine spending all day with my phone in my face trying to beat the system. My daughter and I did BTMRR 30 min SB, I was on the app the entire time in queue trying to swap FP+ for the afternoon. I was never successful, not even close. I gave up.

I just read through one of Kenny's blogs, wish I would have read it sooner, but it sounds pretty similar to our experience. FP+ combined with FP- has been awesome this trip we have done more FP than ever and very, very few SB lines. We have just been going around grabbing FP- for what we wanted with KTTW. If it gives me a pass, not my problem... :rolleyes1 In fact if you didn't read these boards, you wouldn't even know it's not intended.

Also, they are getting more restrictive with the FP times, we had to plead our case a couple times after showing up like 10 mins late

this however, I agree with. When things are in beta testing, there is no reason you can't do both FP+ and FP-

Miss Judgerson,
First, what disses? I haven't been dissing anyone. I've been dissed publicly, but to merely state that something didn't have credit or link is dissing someone? It wasn't even placed in context. I've seen the individual you mentioned attempt to berate a number of people or their works publicly both indirectly and directly. If you see evidence of my doing so, please point that out to me. I'll be the first to remedy the situation.
Second, I clearly stated in the article that I was trying to see what is WRONG with the app. I welcome Disney fixing all their open issues. In my opinion this is something that should have been caught in Alpha testing or at minimum Beta testing. I don't really need to use this. I live here and can ride things when I want to ride and go when the parks are less busy. Be sure to read the article in it's entirety before going off on me or what I wrote. If it were presented in the local newspaper it would be "journalism," but a blog is somehow different? I gave every step and it's up to Disney to repair this open issue.

agree that testing is good KTP. and your site is awesome. but putting this out there so a bunch of people can use this workaround isn't good either...then its not testing its exploiting

Oh shoot...I hate this post because it's true.

You have no reason to be apologetic to anyone. It's clearly not ready for release. They should reward you for your QA efforts. As a software engineer with.. well experience measured in decades, its pretty embarrassing to see a company with Disney's resources roll out a product that appears to have completely skipped the QA process. I wonder if they offshored the work to the same group that worked on the obamacare website popcorn::

Or an open call for correction. All in the eye of the beholder. But I knew that people would judge me, that's life.

I hope it's not going to be an issue of FP+ replacing FP- completely. It would be a nice complement to the existing system, like a perk for resort guests but pleeeeeeeeeaaaaase don't get rid of paper FP.

I think that in practice, someone who relies on using this little trick is more or less doing you a favor if you're competing for the Fastpasses.

If the park doesn't have the passes tiered at the time, it means the trickster is sacrificing pre-booking of two valuable slots (by booking Stitch and Aladin or whatever for late in the day not to use) to set up the trick, gambling that what's available on their park day is worth it. If that's the case the fastpass wasn't that critical to begin with because the park isn't crowded.

If the park is tiered at the time, then they are using their two worthless lower tiered slots for the set up, but will find that either (1) there's nothing worth booking the first time they try to change their floating fastpass time because Disney guessed right and the parks are packed, or (2) The parks are less crowded than expected and you're back in the same scenario as above.

oh I dont' judge you as a person for this. I just think its wrong to put out there for everyone. With that being said, again you have an amazing website thta you put your time into -- time that I can't even imagine. And I have used your website a TON both in planning and entertainment. so thank you

While I think I agree with some of what Andyman says about this...the only judgment I have of you is that you're a genius. pirate:
