FP+ Work Around, how to get more FP in a day thread?

No my whole point is that when you use a fast pass you are skipping people in line. If, however, we all have access to skip a certain number of lines a day or use the fastpasses equally (without a glitch in the system) then its fair. If you KNOW you are using a glitch to get it then it is skipping the line. Some people would use this glitch to think they are "beating Disney". But truly, using this glitch isn't beating disney...just other customers.

By your logic then, every resort guests should be shamed for using KTTW cards to get FP- because they are going to use those passes to cut in front of poor 4 year olds in line who are staying at POP and cant get FP-.

I guess I just want the stupid system to work fairly for everyone and not have glitch upon loophole with a side of broken for everything.
I don't want to beat the system, I don't want to take anything away from anyone, I don't need to stick it to Disney or the family who is stuck at Pop. I just want it to be fair and work for everyone.

good points -- the reason I bring up 4 yo is because no one would jump in front of them when they could see you do it...just like many people write things in emails they would never say to someone...computers are evil

The whole system is full of unfair things right now. I just want it to be even for everyone paying to go.

Kudos to Kenny for finding a flaw in the system. Shows that you have way too much time on your hands.

However, you're a real jerk for posting all the fine points of how to do online. An email to Disney with the details would have been plenty. All you're doing is hurting people who are being passed by by those who game the system using your method. In my book you're right down there with the folks who rented out themselves and the GAC cards.

It's a neat work bug in the system but the app is way to unreliable. All it takes is one tiny screw up and your stuck riding Aladdin and Jungle Cruise at 8pm. Seems like way to much stress as well. Think I will keep my FP+ rides and times as is. I don't screw around with stuff like this because it typically bites you in the ***. Reason I don't "hack" my PS4 or iPhone.

Also $20 bucks says IT is reading this.

While I am sure they might find a solution to this eventually, I am not sure how fast they can fix it. I thought all the other ways people are getting FP- and shouldn't (using room-only KTTW cards, expired tickets, etc) would have been stopped by now, but haven't. The only reason this might get fixed sooner is that it is a problem with FP+ and not FP-. Although there are many glithes with other things that still need to be fixed too.

To fix those other things they would have to commit resources to patching legacy systems that they are probably scrapping anyway. This loophole, big impact or small, is in their sparkly new billion dollar baby.

This I why I think they will try to fix this problem before any FP- problem. While at it, hopefully they can fix the app from crashing and for it to stop displaying ghost FP+ reservations.

As to being unfair, as others have posted, there are too many things unfair to worry about this. I would be more worried about the guy with 20 old room-only KTTW cards pulling 20 FP- passes for each ride. Not many will try this method as it may glitch and cause problems with their other two FP+ and most won't even know about it or how to do it (although the process seems easy, other rides might not be available).

Hey, thanks! I could have been so much worse :thumbsup2

Nothing like telling people and Disney EXACTLY what is wrong with their system. I mean, perhaps I should pull the thread and sell a special code on EBAY to allow people to fake injuries or something, since some think they are one in the the same.

It doesn't really matter to me if you think I'm "a jerk" or not. I help hundreds of people tour and meet characters every day and don't charge them for the advice on my blog. A lady, her husband and son just met 73 characters in one day using info on my site. Sounds like I ruined Disney for them too. Or the little boy who "dreamed" of saying thanks to me and saw me at Fort Wilderness by chance and just wanted to take a photo together. Must have really screwed up his life.

I found a flaw (which should have been found with decent Alpha testing) and posted it and it is what it is. It's Disney we're talking about here, not an open door in the national defense system on wikileaks. As I said in my more recent post. Maybe Disney will put the EXPERIENCE back in My Disney Experience.

Hakuna Matata and enjoy your next Disney vacation!

A friend who was there in October found that they could walk around to the entrance and ride again if they were still within their FP time. So multiple rides within that hour window. Not sure if they always scanned at both checkpoints though. Discovered by accident - they had FP+ then also pulled a paper FP for BTMRR, used FP+ first, then went through again with the paper. Her DH accidentally scanned his MB instead and it worked. So they tested it other places and it always worked.

Hmmm mm

Miss Judgerson,
First, what disses? I haven't been dissing anyone. I've been dissed publicly, but to merely state that something didn't have credit or link is dissing someone? It wasn't even placed in context. I've seen the individual you mentioned attempt to berate a number of people or their works publicly both indirectly and directly. If you see evidence of my doing so, please point that out to me. I'll be the first to remedy the situation.
Second, I clearly stated in the article that I was trying to see what is WRONG with the app. I welcome Disney fixing all their open issues. In my opinion this is something that should have been caught in Alpha testing or at minimum Beta testing. I don't really need to use this. I live here and can ride things when I want to ride and go when the parks are less busy. Be sure to read the article in it's entirety before going off on me or what I wrote. If it were presented in the local newspaper it would be "journalism," but a blog is somehow different? I gave every step and it's up to Disney to repair this open issue.

First, know that I have (and continue to be) a long time fan and follower. We have never been character people, but followed your advice/tips in January and had an outstanding time.

Both you and easy are the only two bloggers worth following (IMO), and the only two that I share with WDW newbies. One of you is more love and light, the other more drink and dark, but I respect and enjoy both perspectives.

RE the dis, here is one that I recall, not mean, but not as positive/supportive as I know you to be. #12

I disagree with you in regards with something being wrong with the app. The easiest way to 'fix' this would be to lock people into the FP+ when the FP+ time starts...which would prevent people from changing a last minute FP+ reservation....which stinks. I have read of many people who when arriving at a location, realize that a FP+ isn't needed (short stand-by), and then change it. I look forward to enjoying this flexibillity. There are other ways to stop this abuse, but this would be the easiest fix.

I think it is clever that you figured this out, clever so much that I shared it with my DH (we both are familiar with beta testing)...but I feel that it is irresponsible to put it out there in such a public way.

The blog post is giving people a step by step tutorial of how to cheat the system, cutting in line in front of everyone in stand-by. You are following the letter of the law (app coding), but not the spirit of the law.

Interesting. I can't imagine this still would work. If it does it would be a major glitch in the FP+ system.

I suspect that Disney is more likely to pay attention if they see this work around in a blog. They seem to be mostly ignoring people who send them messages nowadays so this blog might just alert someone.

I don't know why there is all of this fuss over things being made public. First Disney is secretive as can be and then those who love and support Disney are supposed to keep things quiet too? I think that it's Disney's responsibility to handle these things, not Kenny the Pirate's.

I am torn on this, but I think in the end I view this hack the same way I view line skippers or cutters, or people who used to game the disabilities system.

I don't blame Kenny for finding or posting the hack, and I think by him posting it he's doing Disney a big favor because now they can fix it, but he should no longer use the trick for personal gain.

Some people love the new FP+, MDE, MagicBands. I do. Some people hate it. But that is no excuse for using a hack to cheat. Use your moral compass people, REGARDLESS of how you view Disney and others.

Anyway, Disney will have this fixed quickly, I can promise you that. So in the end it will be all for naught anyway.

Agreed.

I also think I would be more apt to buy into the whole posting so it can be fixed thing if you hadn't started making excuses about why you outed them. When you start throwing Walt's name around, and state how touring the parks now lacks quality, it sounds as if you are making excuses for posting what you posted. And that you in no way did it to be helpful. You could have just sent them an e-mail if that was your only intention.

We all know it may take them some time, but Disney will close any loophole. They have been focused on doing so this year and I can't see how the FP+ system will be any different.

Remember folks...... this is in testing. I really wish people would remember that. ;)

Isn't this the sort of thing testing is supposed to fix? Disney should send him a big thank you for doing what they probably should have paid someone to do.

All true. Now let's see if the notoriously inept IT dept. is able to fix this. They might be calling Kenny for some advice. :goodvibes
