FP+ Work Around, how to get more FP in a day thread?

I hate being right all the time. (That's some sarcasm I'll get scolded for no doubt!)

We've entered the period before Thanksgiving when school is out everywhere. The parks will be packed and we'll get a lot less "Great news everybody I used Magic Bands this week while no one was at the parks and THEY WORK GREAT TWO THUMBS UP!!!!" around here.

This trick will be zero sum when the parks are packed and it will be zero sum when the parks are empty. There may be a sweet spot of attendance where it's marginally beneficial to the unscrupulous user but it's probably not worth the effort to find it.

:rotfl2:

I find it amusing that so many people are applauding this behavior (which is just cheating the system), but bashing those who were taking advantage of the GAC.

Use whatever excuse you want, both ways are scamming the system. What it shows is, it's not cheating if it it's something you would try on your own. Otherwise, it's disgusting behavior.

You know grumpy pants is right. Don't be so grumpy :)

Here's the problem it's human nature to "cheat" when you feel cheated. Some people will always cheat, but disboard has been looking for away around fp+ which they feel cheated by.

Not a justification, but everyone has a sell out, breakdown point.

Seriously not apologize for them, but heck man to go from 6-8 fp to possible only 3 is freaking people out.

I don't even see it as cheating. Kenny was using FP+ during the testing phase with the Disney provided app. Now if you did this with a third party hacking app someone in Thailand was selling for $1, that would be cheating.

I know. It's just exhausting, isn't it? ;)

I know, right?

You ever feel like Cassandra in The Illiad?

"Hey guys, beware of Greeks bearing gifts!! Okay, fine, ya bunch of Trojan morons. Don't listen to me."

:smokin:

I give Kenny props. He did the absolute correct thing. He informed Disney and gave them ample time to fix the problem if it was fixable. He then published it on his blog since... thats what he does.

To me, this is very much like pulling fastpasses and even though the return time was up at lets say 3pm, you used them at 9pm. The fastpass says 2pm to 3pm. It explicitly states... 3pm is the end of the time domain you can return. However, Disney was not enforcing this time domain and so it was exploited. It was exploited so much by so many that it became standard operating procedure. I can remember times, during the old system, that I would try to give away fastpasses that had "expired" and people wouldnt take them because they didnt believe that you could use them after the time window.

If Disney chooses not to fix this, then my only assumption is that fixing this is not a complete priority to them. The will accept 0.1% using this loophole for the time being since they have bigger fish to fry.

Yup,

Starting Tues/Wed, we'll finally see some real-time stress on the system:

  • Lots of check-ins activating MB's,
  • A much higher percentage of on-site with FP+ reservations
  • A large influx of off-site vying for FP- along with on-site who can still pull
No matter which side of the FP debate you're on, we can all get a better feel for where things are by looking at 3 key areas:

1. How's the infrastructure holding up -
  • At check-in and in the resort with MB's
  • WIFI and the App - can you get access, the speed and availability for real-time management of FP's
  • Reading devices for MB's and FP+ (incl. CM handhelds), at the gate, at the rides, for EMH
  • Kiosks -haven't heard much about them, yet

2. How are the CM's holding up -
  • For Check-in
  • Resort Guest Services
  • Park CM's
  • Park Guest Services

3. How is Disney Handling Issues
  • For MB's
  • For FP+
  • For FP-
  • Resort Specific - i.e. POP vs. others

Since there are a good number of dedicated DIS'ers heading down during the next couple of weeks, such as lugnut33, laketravis and many others - a dedicated thread to capture objective feedback on the above (good and bad) would seem to be beneficial.

Any thoughts on this?

Kudos to you, KtP!

I don't think using this feature is cheating at all. Unlike double dipping, or going through twice, or abusing the handicap system:
1) it is available to everyone in the FP+ system equally (since Kenny posted it). Even the hypothetical 4yo you would be cutting in front of has access to do the same thing.
2) it is only using available fast passes that no one bothered to preselect. It does not create new ones, or reuse expired ones.
3) it does not block anyone from scheduling thier 3 passes the day before.
4) no lying is involved ( unlike abusing the handicap system)
5) Disney has never said you cannot get more FPs on the same day, only that you cannot reserve more than 3 before you arrive.
6) it is using the system as Disney designed it.

Are we sure that Kenny's discovery is a "loophole" and not a "feature" that was added to give people a chance to use unclaimed FP availability?

Go Kenny!

I haven't had a chance to use the new Fastpass+ system yet but this
certainly sounds like "Kenny the Pirate" has found a huge flaw. He's
also not shy about sharing exactly how to exploit it with the world.

While I personally would like to see more than 3 Fastpass+ selections
(4-5 would be nice) this abuse can't help but hurt those individuals who
are still using the legacy Fastpass system.

Didn't your mother ever tell you it wasn't nice to be a tattle-tale? And to think KtP beat you to it...

I would try them all in order. Ask at checkin, ask to talk to a manager, ask at the concierge desk, and then ask at the park if none of those work.

It was sometime last week, but someone said that POP was giving cards with FP access to guests who asked for them when they specifically brought up being upset about being treated different than all other resorts.

Maybe whoever said that was wrong.

Why is it not "cheating the system" by getting the FP- when Disney has designated POP as a MB only resort?

Because I would be going through direct channels and asking to be treated just like every guest at the other resorts.

I wouldn't consider it cheating any more than it is cheating to ask for anything that isn't given freely to people who either don't know or are too timid to ask.

I would compare it to going to the front desk and asking for a celebration button. I don't feel like I'm cheating just because they don't hand them to everyone who doesn't ask.

Because like it or not maybe that's part of Disney's plan to see how guest will react to no more fp-

Even thou I would like to think Disney wouldn't do that they own the resorts the park and they can do what ever they like.

Yes that is so not the but kiss Disney customer service we know. :(

Yep. That's why it doesn't matter if Disney fixes this or not.

I would love to see this too. Maybe we should start a separate thread for it and try to have everyone agree to minimize the editorial commentary.

I just hope the responses are truly objective, and take into account that getting 7-8FP's to ride the top headliners didn't happen during the most crowded times either.

I'd also like to hear comments from people who try to get to a park early and use their FP+ reservations in the evening, because that's what we plan to do in late December.

I also plan to try occasionally to book FP's same day (which I can do with my linked AP) to check on availability. I will cancel before actually booking anything.

As of this morning, I could still book FP+ reservations for both Soarin and TSMM for both Thursday, and Friday. I'll be interested to see if those are gone in advance.

I don't think that is necessarily the reason. I think the main reason is to see how many practical problems they have with magic bands when people don't have a card to serve as backup. Without that they don't really know how well the bands are working.

They will get the reactions to not getting FP- whether they give an accommodation to the few people who ask about it or not.

How does this work in the tiered parks? I'm trying to wrap my mind around this! Lol! Sorry if that's a dumb question!

If nothing else, this thread has proven I'm not such a bad guy after all. I would never purposely jump in line in front of a 4 year old....unless they showed up without their Dad...then I would be like...get out of my way kid.

Kudos to Kenny for exposing the huge flaw.

Would you beat George Castanza out the door when the fire breaks out at the birthday party?

Naaaah....I'm not that cruel. But if the 4 year old can pay for my trip then I might reconsider theoretically jumping in front of them ;)
