FP + What we know and what we want to know

Yes, i have the AP rate. You do have to pay for parking every night if you have a car. It is $18.00/night. Even if you add that in, it is still a good deal for what you are getting. You get unlimited express pass, one hour early entry into Wizarding World of Harry Potter, walking distance to the parks or the water taxi, plus pool hopping at the three resorts. Only one person needs to have an AP to book the room. You don't need it in advance to book, just show it when checkin in. You can call and check the AP rate or go to the website. On the website, after you enter your dates, click Promotion, then APH for the code. It will bring those up if they are available. The rates do not include parking so you would need to figure that in. We are staying at the Royal Pacific. It is usually the cheapest but sometimes not.

I had to check, since we're considering a future trip that would involve a stay at a USO resort. Even when I got the "NBCUniversal Guest Discount" for an event a couple times, it was still $200+ a night :)

Looks like the upper two AP options get you room discounts, but also free self-parking - but is that only at the park? Can you park at the park and walk to your resort? :)

Even the mid-tier might pay for itself after just a couple nights if the discount is available...

There is no overnight parking at the garages that serve the parks. For the distance involved you would not want to carry luggage anyway. The free parking only applies to the garages and not the resorts.

I have also managed to score about $160/night at Royal Pacific with either an AP or FL Resident rate (don't now remember which it was), though it was about two years ago now.

Yes, the preferred pass and the Premium passes are the only two AP that get you the discount at the hotel and free parking. You do get free parking at the park but have to pay for parking if staying onsite if you have a car. I wouldn't think you could park for free at the parking deck and then walk to the resort. They would probably tow your car if it set there for any amount of time. And when it comes time to for renewal, they offer you a discounted price. Not sure of the exact price but I was told it was around $170.00 for preferred.

OK, I'm about to run out of time editing my Photopass photos from our December trip so I'mworking on it tonight.

Can anyone explain to me why I want to place my fastpass access into the hands of the same people who designed that MESS of a photopass site???????

Too funny!

I leave this thread for 24 hours and now the last page or 2 is about Universal Studios? Well better than arguing I guess :rotfl:

Now we are comparison shopping. Is FP+ worth the money or is US/IoA a better deal? I think it is relevant to the topic.;)

Plus we are waiting for Tink10 to get her invitation to select her FP+ options and report back. :)

mousermerf - I posted these two questions yesterday and I know there have been a lot of posts so I don't know if you saw them or not. I'm re-posting them in the hopes that you could clear up some of my confusion. Thanks

Just a note.. it has been mentioned that 1/3 of the turnstiles are converted.. and that another 1/3 is closed.. and the theory is that 1/3 will remain for the old ticket types...

Umm, no.

Once the 2/3 are converted they'll close the last 1/3 for conversion soon thereafter and begin issuing RFID to all passes via RFID stickers. That'll be the way of doing things until all guests are converted to new passes with RFID or wristbands. They'll stop doing it right at the gate or bag check with handheld PCs once they feel the number of guests is low enough and begin directing those guests to ticket windows and guest services to be converted.

mousermerf - I'm confused. The best way I know to ask this is by example so here goes:

Let's say for the purposes of this example FP+ has been rolled out at BWI and BC, all entrance gates are now RFID, and FP- is still in use for everyone that cannot use FP+ yet. If I am staying at BWV(not FP+ yet) and my AP has now been added to my room key using an RFID sticker so I can use the entrance gates, can I still use FP-? If so, how?

Well i hope you're visiting in the next 30-45 days :P

So are you saying that this will be entirely rolled out by March 1st for all resort guests and off-site guests? FP- will be totally gone by March?

Disney wants full price tickets purchased through them to be the majority of ticket sales. Guests hwo buy discounted tickets of any manner are giving up the perk.

Could this be connected to daily dynamic pricing. If you buy your tickets from Disney only, then they can adjust the price on a regular basis. The one price tickets for the year could be phased out.

I would log into my Disney experience look at the prices for each day, choose my parks, make my FP+ choices, set a few ADRs, and then check out and pay for my experience or set up a payment plan. Just like we would do with an airline.

So basically if you have a room only reservation but are getting your tickets from Disney after you arrive, you are out of luck. :confused3

I'm curious about this as well. We'll have a split stay...

We will first be at POP Century for 3 days, then 12 days at BCV. We're getting a 10 Day Parkhopper first, and that's connected to our first stay, then continuing with that same 10 day ticket when going to BCV. We won't decide if we want to go to AP's till we're there.....

So, Since we have a "room only" for the DVC portion of our stay, will it go by the 10 day hopper or by the number of days we stayed at where we got the 10 day ticket? Hope this makes sense. Then there's the " we're there and buy the AP then scenario".:confused3

Update:

The first guests who "qualify" have been flagged in the reservations system. The intent is to make the offer at check-in. Due to various "reasons" (people making mistakes primarily) the early flagged guests are arriving today but the resorts don't have their stock of bands yet.

To clarify, it's not meant to be all guests at a particular resort, though the resort(s) chosen are a limiting factor of eligibility. They're looking for certain criteria and also applying a bit of random assignment.

It's the same as an overbook and upgrade setup in Disney's hotel system. Guests who meet the criteria (dates, room type, etc..) are "flagged" and will be offered the upgrade - or in this case Magic Band - as they arrive. It's like a sort of random lottery. there's only a certain number of spots, like how there's only a certain number of upgrades when they do it for rooms, and people can refuse (and people do refuse room upgrades for various reasons) but once they reach the limit that has been set the other guests who are "flagged" wont even know about it.

This is good TV! Plenty of suspense, unsuspecting guests, a crisis. :)

I wonder if some of the first time users of FP+ that are at Disney for the first time and really doesn't know anything about the old way that FP works, will see others getting FPs while in the park and give FP+ bad reviews or complain about being unable to do the same.

Sorry havnt read the last 10 pages..

Just checking to see if anyone has heard a date for when FP+ is up?
Or if anyone has entered virtual tickets yet?

After keeping up with the almost 2000 posts on this thread and worrying about how my june trip will go, i just watched Celebrate the magic on youtube, had tears in my eyes, and realized that whatever they do to fastpasses I will always go back. No one does the magic like Disney....

I think most people on here will go back, however our touring plans may start including/adding more days at US or SW..

As I stated in a post always back now.. :-) we have never set foot off disney property when we go to FL.. however with the new FP+ we most likely will..
