FP+ - Ticket/Hotel

A cast member for the Disney Vacation Club told me you need a ticket to make FP+ reservations. Is this correct? I thought having a hotel reservation to a Walt Disney World Resort was all that was needed (or a ticket). We are allowed to make our reservations on 3/11/14 but was hoping to have some clarity on this issue before then. My wife and I are AP holders so we have no issues. My parents do not have tickets yet and my 2 year old will not need a ticket at all. We are hoping to make schedule the FP+ times together.

To make advance FP+ you need both a reservation and tickets linked so your parents will need tickets linked prior to being able to select FP+

Thank you. I'll have to make sure they get their tickets before March. Will I be able to make one reservation for all 5 members of my party or does the site make you do it one at a time/per ticket basis?
