FP - Soarin or Test Track?

We did a noon arrival at EP last year after MNSSHP.

We did the opposite - we used FP TT (My 5 yr old refused to let us do TT without her using single rider, she loves race cars) and did stand by for Soarin at 7:30p after our Garden Grill dinner...it was a 30 minute wait which allowed our food to digest :)
Then we had a great view of Illuminations after Soarin at the back of FW. And a quick, no crowd exit after that!!

how late are you planning to stay at Epcot? and is it your only Epcot day/are you planning to watch Illuminations? We would normally FP Soarin' and do single rider for TT like PPs said, but this time, we are doing something different. We have 1 day for which we are using FP+ at Epcot, and are going to get FP for TT. We are also planning to do Soarin' standby at the end of the night (instead of Illuminations which we can do another day if we choose). For us, though, this works based upon the party who've been before/will be again, and the youngest child's wish list (trip is to celebrate her birthday). I'd maybe poll the kids and see which they'd choose if they can only choose one

We plan a late arrival at EPCOT after MVMCP. Thanks for this info!

FP+ and tiering have created a system by which one must wait in line for one of the "Big Two" rides in Future World. With this in mind, the best strategies for line avoidance are a) Rope Drop; b) Single Rider Line; and c) Ride during Illuminations and just before closing. The fourth option, d) is to simply suck it up and wait in a 50-70 minute line for one of the two rides. If you won't be able to do "a" and aren't eligible to do "b", then that leaves options "c" and "d". If left with those choices, I would always get a FP for Soarin' and use option c or d at Test Track. Spending 50-70 minutes in the Soarin' line is torture. It is a horrible queue. The queue at Test Track can move like molasses, but it at least keeps you occupied with stuff to see and do.
