FP+ Reservation Day - Am I losing my mind?

I have a one night reservation at YC arriving January 2, 2019. By every ADR/FP+ calculator I used (and by simply counting on a calendar), I thought my FP+ reservation day was tomorrow, Nov. 3. I just went into the FP+ reservation system to get a sense of what might be available 30 days out for EP for the one day I'm going (yes, I know it may not be a great indicator, but I enjoy playing around on the WDW website!). Well, lo and behold, I was able to make FP+ for my trip. Did I calculate incorrectly? I'm certainly not complaining that I got the FP+ I wanted at the times I wanted, but I really thought today I was 61 days from my trip. I just want to make sure I'm calculating correctly going forward. Perhaps I was always making my FP+ a day late!

Can I jump in and ask about the rolling FP window? Here's our situation:

Parents staying Dec 2-5/5-7 (split stay)

***separate trip***

My family staying Jan 23-26/Jan 26-Feb 2 (split stay)
Rest of family including parents staying Jan 26-Feb 2

I was planning on booking fastpasses for our entire group for the January trip when my FP window opens on Nov. 24. Is there any advantage to my parents' December trip in terms of the FP window opening earlier than Nov. 24 for all of us? (We're all linked in MDE).

No because their January check-in is 3 days after yours. Your window opens well before the “roll” opens their’s one day early.
