Hi,

I have a question I was hoping some experienced DIS'ers could help me with:) My husband and I are traveling to WDW with our 5 yr old and 2 yr old. If we get a FP for a ride that our 2 yr old can't ride, do both my husband and I need to schedule the FP for the ride or can one of us do it and then do a rider swap?

Thanks!

1. do both my husband and I need to schedule the FP for the ride or

2. can one of us do it and then do a rider swap?

1. In most cases, no.
2. In most cases, yes.
The difference (if there is one) can be which CM is in charge when you are at a ride.

I'd like to know this too because I think I'll be during the swap for a few rides.

Generally, you can schedule a FP+ for one adult and one child and another FP+ for an adult and a child for nearly the same time. Then Adult 1 and the 5 year old can ride the first attraction using the FP+ and get a riderswitch. Adult 2 and the 5 year old can ride the attraction later that day with the riderswitch. As for the second attraction at nearly the same time, Adult 2 can ride that using the FP+ line and get a riderswitch. Later Adult 1 and the 5 year old can ride it. Riderswitch passes are good for up to 3 people.

Thanks for the question OP as I was wondering the same!! So basically, you only need one fastpass for the ride to do rider switch if the other adult is holding the baby. That way, both parents could ride alone but only needing ONE fastpass (if the 5 year old also stayed behind with parent 1 and baby).

You are correct. You can essentially double your FP for rides that do RS. We did that successfully before and will be doing it again in 2 weeks. I have heard that the CM has asked that both have FP to begin with but i have yet to personally encounter that. We will be getting 4-6 FP every day we go using this method. You could even go as far as to schedule the FP for your 5 yr old too and one of you use his FP to ride twice, but that depends on the CM and how close attention they pay. But heck you paid for it, so might as well use it!

The only thing CMs checked with us was the existence of a child too small to ride (or passing on it) before a ride swap was given out, and a few times the pass was physically given to the parent staying back, not the person going on the ride.
