FP+ now 3+ what say you?

Now that Disney is going to be allowing you to add more than the 3 pre-booked FP+ what do you think?

"We’ve heard from a number of guests that they would like the opportunity to add additional FastPass+ entitlements during their visit, in addition to the three they can plan in advance. So, we’re working on providing them with the ability to add and enjoy additional entitlements on the day of their visit. Once they’ve used the three they’ve booked, we’ll enable them to select another at kiosks in the parks. And once they’ve used the fourth, they can select another, and so on. We also heard that other guests liked the fact that with the FASTPASS service they could use FASTPASS when they park hopped. So we’re working on a service enhancement to add that feature to FastPass+ as well."

I have to go with an "other" category. I don't want to have to wait in line at a kiosk to add the additional FPs. I wouldn't mind if we could add them from MDE app on our phones but those kiosk line can be crazy long at times.

Agree that having to do this at a kiosk makes it annoying. Also, what if one of your FP+ was for a night time show? It would be hard to take advantage of this system if that was the case.

This would make things only marginally better, if at all. First of all, it's unlikely there will be many FPs left for the best rides, once you use up your first one and try to add another. Unless, of course, you schedule your first one for just after RD (when it wouldn't even be needed) and the other two for soon thereafter.

Or, this could result in even longer FP return lines.

Or, this may force WDW to further limit how many FPs are issued, per ride, per day so as to avoid even longer FP return lines.

As I've said before, anything short of a big investment in park improvements (e.g. more rides and attractions) is only Disney desperately "tinkering" with the horrible FP+ system. And tinkering at this point will produce only modest improvements, IMO.

Same here, but the reason we can do that is because we make RD and take advantage of short standby lines. If this new addition to the FP+ model makes early SB lines even LONGER, then it will be a net loss for me. And, I suspect, for you.

I am concerned that the additional FP+ will impact the wait in the Standby line even more. Guests will schedule FP+ earlier, negating some of the advantage of RD and secondary attractions (those never requiring FP-) will become busier and busier as the day goes on as they will likely be the FP+ "available" at those times.

My biggest concern has been the impact on Standby wait times. This will make it worse I fear.

I'm happy the are trying to accommodate hopping however.

Not really and here's why. Previously, many, many park goers, for whatever reason, simply didn't use legacy FP. They were either too lazy to educate themselves about it or whatever. But, now that Disney has trumpeted FP+ to anyone and everyone, you have huge numbers of park goers getting and using FP. Many more (and a greater % of park goers) than under the old FP system.

With this huge increase in FP users, the number of FPs available per guest has dwindled. It's strictly a numbers game and why Disney's attempts at "tinkering" really won't address the problems now encountered.

TSM was one of the few (if not only) rides under the old FP system, where FPs were often all taken by late morning. On a few isolated occasions, Soarin' was too, but much less so than TSM. Never ran into this problem with other park headliner rides (i.e. FPs all gone by mid to late morning). Sometimes, headliners might run out later in the afternoon, at worst.

We make rope drop and stay till park closing so we have open to close to ride what we want when we want. Not to mention we hit the parks in early Dec while it is slow season.

Having just gotten back, it would make a huge difference to our trip. To go at rope drop and get Fantasyland done with no FP, then use our FP+ from 11-1 and then get more would be fabulous. And having just been there last week I can't imagine there would be more than a dozen busier days at MK than last Wednesday. I kept checking availability all day and tons of stuff was still available later in the afternoon at MK. As for the kiosks, I hated them because they clogged walkways, and yet when I needed one, I went to the one in Frontierland and actually didn't stand in line at all. I think once the offsite people are brought onto the MDE they won't be as crazy. At least I hope not.

And if you already had to go collect a FP with FP- then the only diff now is you get 3 without having to go to a kiosk and then you don't have to cross the park, just go to a nearby kiosk.

Goodness, even good news around here turns bitter.

We didn't experience fast passes for TSMM run out that quickly until they began testing FP+. On our previous trips, they would still run out, but not until noon-1. Plus, we all know that TSMM is the outlier. I wish pwoplw would stop using it as an example. Other attractions with FP never had this problem. Soarin, TT, and RnRC are the only other attractions I can think of that might run out of FP, but they were usually still available into the afternoon.

I think the article stated that FP usage had increased by 40%

I didn't vote. I am not a fan of FP+, but this change could be a step in the right direction. I'll be waiting to see what we hear from the parks before I make up my mind.

Ahh, that makes sense, but it doesn't work for those of us with younger kids. At least those of us who hope to have the kids still be humans and not little monsters by day three.

Aren't you worried though, that your all-day-park-til-you-drop experience is going to suffer as SB lines get longer and longer and longer?

And this is my issue. If FP+ ressies didn't start until after park opening (like 30 minutes or an hour after the official opening, which is how it used to be) then RD would still be an advantage. Now, I fear, we just won't get much done even at RD. We generally only used 2-4 FP-, but we were rope droppers who left our first park around lunch and visited a second park for the evening. We never planned on doing headliners at the second park, but could often do SB for secondary rides. Now that seems like it's going to be tough as well, since FP+ now includes everything under the sun. It's a net loss for us as well. We have a three day trip planned in early June, our first with FP+, so we'll see how that goes. But we have, as a tradition, gone every other Christmas week as extended family. I don't see us doing that again.

Nope and my kids have been going since they were 5 months old and doing the open to close thing from the start.

I'm still waiting to experience FP+ for myself in September, but I don't think that being able to add more fastpasses after the first 3 have been used would change how I feel. If I could pick a new FP from the app that would be better, but having to use the kiosks sounds like a hassle I guess I'll see in September (unless things have changed again by then)

Why post a poll like this here? Isn't everyone constantly reminded that they are just a "small fish in a big pond" when it comes to the overall impact on Disney's reasoning or revenue? Who cares what we think? It's been made obvious it doesn't matter.

I'm hoping that the kiosks will just be a temporary thing until they can work that feature into the app. I'm not a fan of the idea of standing in line to get a FP+ so that I don't have to stand in line to ride the attraction. Especially if I'm expected to wait until I get to the kiosk to even find out what's available and when.

But I do like the idea of being able to add another FP+ or two. And the inability to hop has always been a big peeve of mine. Now if they would do something about the tiering at EPCOT and HS, I might be converted to a FP+ fan.
