FP , MNSSHHP and characters

For MNSSHP can you book "special" character M&G or just rides? How about for parade viewing and fireworks? I called Disney twice and received conflicting info.

you can't get any FP+ for the actual party.....if using the hard ticket you can get FP+ for 4-7 pm before the party starts

I wish you can book some special characters during special events or during the holiday seasons.
