FP line for RSR = Wow.

So, with these crazy lines to get a FP, how long is it taking when you return later to the FP line to actually get on RSR?

I posted this on another thread -- we were there for the Grand Opening (RSR FP line was about a 2-hr wait), but the next day we got into the FP line for RSR around 8pm and only waited about 20 minutes to actually get on the ride.

While I have seen some claim that RSR FPs are being distributed before 8AM, maybe I missed it but I have yet to read from anyone who has personally obtained a FP before 8AM. I am inclined to think those that claim otherwise are mistaken because it would be unprecedented at DLR.

Has anyone on this forum personally obtained a FP before 8AM?

FWIW, got fast passes today with 11:45 return and was in a car in 7 minutes according to my stopwatch!

This is good news! Now the question is -- how long did it take you to get that FP? When did you get in line, and did you have any kind of early entry?

And, Glad I'm not the only skeptic Hydroguy. Until I hear a first hand account of someone standing at the FP machine and it spitting them out prior to 8am I'm going to continue to believe it's just queues and lining up that's going on.

No EE today, that's tomorrow for us! :) Our fastpass gal got in line after she went through the gates at 735/740ish. She was in that line until 815/825 ish. That's a rough estimate because she met me at Luigi's and I can recall exactly when she joined me..../

I just got home last night. Both days we were at DCA the fastpass lines were not opened until 8am. And wow were they long! The first time I got in line, it was 7:45, I had jumped out of the standby line because the Racers were still not running. I got my fastpass at 8:10, for 12:10 return. We went to use it about 12:30, got through quite quickly, only to have it break down as soon as we were buckled in. So they gave us new fastpasses and made us leave.
When we went to get on again, mid afternoon, the fastpass line was full and outside of the queue area, so we left again. About 7pm we tried again, and this time were inline and off the ride in 20 minutes.
The 2nd day, I was in the fastpass line, well past the Disney Junior show, got my passes at 8:15 with a 10:20 am return time. That day they will had fastpasses available at 10am, which really surprised me. Again, when we returned to ride this time, about 20-25 minutes from getting in line, till walking out the exit.

Can you tell us which day of the week each of these days were? I'm assuming that the first day was Sunday and the second day Monday, but I just want to be sure. I'm also curious what time you got in the FP line on the 2nd day.

Our RSR experience - SR/FP

Friday 6/22 - through turnstile at 7:35am ("regular" entry) - went straight to FP - it had rounded the corner at CC and I was the last person under the overhang - line started moving at 8am - had passes at 8:18am with return time of 1:35-2:35pm. My mom and friends rode Mater and were just getting in line for Luigi where I joined them at 8:20am (overall wait - about 45 minutes for FP)

After Luigi (around 9:10am) we checked the lines for RSR - standby was 150 minutes, SR was about 50 minutes

We used our FP return around 2pm and asked was the return wait was. Two of us heard "15 minutes" and two heard "50 minutes" - the actual wait was about 30-35 minutes, so we have no clue what he said :) At that point, the standby return was about 135 minutes and SR was closed because it was over an hour wait. We loved the ride and were glad we did the FP to be able to ride together, but agreed that SR would be fine for future rides.

11:01 pm - I was running around adding ride pictures to our new PP+ card and decided to try the SR line (my mom and friends had already left for the night). Two people joined the line after me and then it was officially closed for the night. The wait was about 40 minutes. It was just as fun and it was really cool to be walking through CarsLand just before midnight with only a few people on the street. I got some great pictures without the huge crowds. There were still people in the standby line when I got off the ride around 11:40pm.

Sunday 6/24 - we started the day in DL, so we didn't do FP at all for RSR. We checked the lines throughout the day and the standby line seemed to hover around 120-180 minutes, the FP return was usually 30-45 minutes and the SR line was either at 45 minutes or closed. We did the SR line around 2:30pm and waited 45 minutes. Even with 4 of us, we never ended up in the same cars, but still had fun!

Thanks for the detailed timeline and updates. So, what are the lines for Mater and Luigi like? Sounds like not too bad for MAter first thing.

Sorry, it was Friday the 22nd, and Saturday the 23rd. Friday was Resort MM which we did, and Saturday was APEE, which we were not eligible for, but we were allowed to line up for fast pass long before 8am opening.

Luigi's lines were awful everytime we were there. Generally a good 90 minutes. Mater was super easy to get on to early in the AM, but grew to 45-60 minutes as the morning/day went on.

At 8am, my mom and friends were able to go on Mater and be in line for Luigi at 8:20, so I guess it was just about 10-15 minutes? (I was in the FP line). The wait for Luigi said 75 minutes, but it was about 50 minutes at 8:20am.

My mom and I went on Mater on Thursday night and I think we waited about 30 minutes around 9pm.

It's sounding like it may be best to hit Luigi first?! Then Mater, and then SR line for RSR? Or maybe Luigi, then SR for SRS, and then Mater?

So much to learn! I appreciate everyone posting their experiences and for being the guine pigs. :)
