DH & DS18 went to CA this morning. They were in the park by about 8:10; and the FP line for RSR was nearly to the Hyperion Theater. They waited about 30 mins; and got FPs for 4:25.

You aren't kidding when you say WOW. I am sorry, I mean no disrespect just trying to understand this. Why would one wait 30+ min to get a FP to come back 8 hours later to then wait in anouther1-2 line when you can use Single Rider and have gone on 7-8 times in the same time frame. Now if little kids are involved I get that, but we are talking two adults. Is it really that importaint to ride together. My wife and I did single rider cause it's a 4 min ride and could have cared less if we rode together if it ment all we had to do was 45 min total. Again I am just trying to wrap my brain around this and I can't.

Totally agree with PP regarding using the SR line. DD15 and I are planning on doing the SR for RSR as well. Not sure whether we should still try to get FPs for it, or should we get FPs for ToT which is one of DD's most favorite ride? It's DD's first time to DLR and my first after 34 years. We will be staying onsite and have EMH to DCA on Mon, Wed and Fri. Still figuring out a touring plan for each day. May want to ride RSR twice if possible on each day during EMH. Don't think I can do this without using the SR line.

But you're assuming single rider line will be a comparatively short wait and will always be available. I'm not sure that's a safe assumption, especially with everyone talking it up. ;)

I'm pretty sure I've read at least one report of them temorarily closing the SR line down. Yes, you can hang out and wait for it to re-open, or go do something else and come back, but that takes time too.

On Wednesday we walked through the DCA gates at approx 7:55am and I went straight to the FP line for RSR, and yes it was all the way down across from the Hyperion theatre at that point. It was 8:40am before I had fp's in hand and they had a return time of 6:05pm.

When we went to ride RSR at approx 7pm our wait time in the fp line was 25 minutes. The posted wait for single rider line was an hour. People were saying it was taking longer than that though, and I believe them because the line was a lot longer than it was when we used it, and our wait time was exactly an hour.

So I spent a total of 70 minutes in line, which is probably about the same as we would have spent in the SR line, but the other members of my group were off doing other things while I waited in the fp line, and we all got to ride RSR together. Totally worth it to me.

We'll be there in August, and I hope that they'll have the kinks worked out by then and will have less ride closures at that time. Single rider is not an option for us, given that we have small kids who would love to ride as a family but would not want to ride without being able to hold on to mommy or daddy. So, I will probably get in line for the RSR fastpass when we come in first thing Wednesday morning (during early admission). Daddy and the kids then can check out Luigi's Tires and Mater and, if I am still waiting in line, head out to TSMM after that. We'll meet up, do the rest of the parks and then RSR as a family (assuming it's running) when our FP return time. Thanks for the update and the pics... I guess I better bring reading material and my hat/parasol/sunscreen.

I actually don't care about riding it several times, but want to do it at least once. If the little ones love Luigi's and Maters, I can always do it again with them on Friday (we'll be there four days).

Does that sound like a realistic plan?

Are they giving out fastpasses during early entry or waiting until 8:00? I hadn't seen a definite answer to that. We won't have any type of early entry.

Nope, unless you want to spend all of your EMH waiting for the FP line to open. They do not start distributing FPs until regular park opening time.

My best advice would be to hope that they fix whatever issues are causing the late opening of the ride by August, try to be toward the front of the EMH line, and go to RSR first. Even if you are several hundred people back, you will still get on within 30 minutes or so, as long as it's operating. Which, as I and others have discovered, is very hit or miss right now, but hopefully by August they will have worked out those kinks.

We got into the FP line after we rode Soarin last Wednesday and was one of the last people to get a FP. At that time they were winding the line through the main street to Bugs Land. Ours was for 10:15 at night. When we went to ride, the standy by line was still 2 hours long. We waited 20-25 minutes in the FP line. I thought it was worth it to get the FP and wait until later in the day to ride with just a short wait.

Wow this really makes me nervous. Our family is heading to DCA on July 2nd with out any type of early entry. I have a 6yr old and 4yr old that would love RSR but I don't know if the 30 min FP wait plus 60min wait in line is worth it with little ones. We also have a 8mo old so we would either need child swap or single rider. It makes me sad but would it be crazy to just skip RSR with our little people and enjoy the atmosphere instead? We do have 2 days in DCA. Any thoughts would be appreciated, thanks

The children don't need to wait in the fl line. Assign one person to wait with all passes, make sure everyone is in the park. We did it yesterday, it wasn't bad at all. The kids got to eat breakfast and go on some rides and my wife got me a venti Starbucks to sip on while I waited for our fp's. Our fp's were for 1:15. We didn't use them till 6pm though because the ride kept breaking down all day.

I have seen several definite answers on this. DLR has never given out FPs during early entry and reports are they are staying true to that with RSR. They are allowing people to line up early for it. But not distribute.

Thanks DisneyEG, sounds like you had a good plan! How was your wait time at 6pm? Did the ride brake down when u were in line?

That is good to know. Thanks Hydroguy :thumbsup2

You didn't have early entry of any sort, but still got FP's for 1:15? If so, that's great! What time did you arrive at the front gates?

Hmmmm....not sure about this. I was there on Monday and was chatting with a family who were using their FP's at 9:30am, which they claim they picked up during EMH at 7:00 am. They weren't specific on saying whether they were in LINE at 7 am, or obtained them at 7:00am. I don't have my APEE until the 17th, but I'm curious to find out what the deal is.

My experience on 6/22 was almost identical to Jilima's. We were in the park at 7:53, waited 40 minutes for a Fast Pass with a return time of 3:50. The photo displayed is accurate. It was worth it in my opinion. This is a well crafted ride mixing Fantasy Land style and thrill ride elements. Engineering and details are amazing. This ride is drawing almost all of the crowd in both parks. Wait times on all other attractions are extremely minimal compared to past experiences. If you want to ride this now, you need to make it a priority. Fast Pass is the way to go for now in my opinion. While lines may go down several months from now when the newness wears off, this attraction will remain popular and in demand for many years, and always have a significant wait until something newer creates a bigger demand. That will need to be something really great though, because RSR is simply that great!

If this not a "once in a lifetime trip" to DCA....then I personally would say wait until your next trip.

The wait times are really hard on the little ones....even first thing in the morning you see a lot of them having meltdowns after waiting for over an hour. I think some ofthe problem is that the cue line isn't very interesting for a non-reader and even if they can read the phrases, most are twists on words, so young kids aren't going to get the jokes. So they're begging Mom to read this or that, and she's getting tired of it, lol. We saw a lot of frustration happening in the regular line and it was first thing in the morning!

This ride will be around for a LONG time so I'd say skip it until the lines become more reasonable.

Thursday (June 21) they were not handing out FP early....we didn't have EMH, but they let us in around 7:30 and then herded us up to where the front of the FP line was (at the Theatre). The FP line was quite long already with what must have been EMH because we were in the first 50-75 people through the gates. About 5 minutes before official 8am opening a CM escorted the FP line to the actual FP machines. Our wave of people walked past them just a minute or two laster as they were getting their FP and we were heading to the actual ride lines. When we got to the ride the CMs were announcing that the regular line was approximately 2 hours (which means those folks had spent their EMH standing in the line!) and the SR was declared to be 30 minutes, but in reality we waited closer to 45.

The ride was NOT running when we started in the SR line, so unless it had broken down and was fixed at precisely the right time, they were not running it during EMH.
