FP+ is Live! Magic Bands in the park!

Having to use either/or FP/FP+ is not going to please me either...
I'm not sure why this is a problem. Clearly, we're not going to be able to use the old FP machines with MagicBands. Instead, we will make our FP selections virtually through FP+.

Has there been any feedback regarding the FP+ limits? Is it still 3 per day max? I was hoping the 3 per day limit only applied to the one's you booked in advance, and ones booked in the park were only limited by the normal FP style limits (2 hours, or the last one you pulled expiring).

Or perhaps only allowing 3 to be pending at any one time, that would be nice too, arguably even better. 3 total just seems like a slap in the face!

Matt

Three total is just an Internet rumor.

It's actually not an interview rumor. When they had the first testing phase, people were given a choice of three FP+ they could choose from. Someone didn't just "make it up".

Right. They had three preselected FPs. Then, they were able to obtain additional same-day FPs. They were not limited to three FPs per day.

But they were able to use the old system in addition to the pre-selected FP+ passes, just as if they didn't also have FP+. That itself won't be available with MagicBands.

We don't know what limitations they may place on selections through the new system yet in terms of total quantity, per attractions, etc. yet.

The mere fact that during that test they obtained their same-day FPs through the paper FP system doesn't mean that they won't be accessed virtually when FP+ is up and running.

That is exactly my point. We don't know how it will work. Three FPs per day total is just a rumor.

They were not limited to 3 fastpasses a day because they were able to use the existing fastpass system along with the FP+ test.

It isn't a valid comparison.

I didn't bring up the comparison, someone else did. I merely pointed out that in the test, no one was limited to three FPs per day. There has also been no official statement that there will be a three per day limit. People read that there will be the ability to preselect three per day and that they won't be able to use both the virtual system and the paper system and took from that that they will only get three per day max without noticing that they made an unsupported logical leap.

My suspicion is that the number of same day selections isn't being discussed because it's a moving target. They need to see how many slots are left once this gets up and going in large numbers. My guess is that some times of year more will be available and other times maybe none will be available. But of course, if you're there when there are enough for leftovers, you probably don't even need them in the first place.

And I wouldn't make any assumptions about availability of same day FPs based on what happened on the test. Since they had not converted the participants' tickets to RFID, they probably could not even block them from getting other FPs. Besides, I'm sure Disney wants this to roll out in the most positive light possible. Why expose people to the negative aspects of it so early in the process? They want people out there singing its praises in the early days.

They will never state that there is a maximum total per day FP limit, just like there is currently no max limit. There will be a maximum number that can be held at a time. That's in the T&C. This maximum, plus rules as to when you can get pull a new FP not unlike the current rules will manage the total number of FPs that can be obtained. These rules don't have to be adjusted by season because when FPs are gone, they're gone, just like with the current system. It should also be noted that by increasing the number if FPs available for each attraction and increasing the number of attractions using the system, they guarantee that there will be plenty of same-day FPs available. These may or may not be for the ride that you want a FP for. We'll have to see how that plays out.

Again, you argue the same point but with different terms.

It will depend on what distinction there will be between "Fastpass+" and "Fastpass". The way it appears from the information thus far provided is that Fastpass, as the old system, will not be usable with a MagicBand. Only Fastpass+ will be available. How equivalent to the old system when dealing with things the same day remains to be seen. There will likely be a number of changes that may or may not affect some people. For instance, there was a high amount of confidence back in February that you will only be able to get one per attraction per day, in advance or same day.

Just trying to make sure people understand there is some distinction between the two, and the limitations may or may not be the same (and leaning towards not).

They WERE limited to 3 pre booked FP+ :thumbsup2 I didn't say they were limited to 3 FastPasses. It wasn't just a rumor that someone made up, the limit to 3 FP+ was fact during the testing.

When I talked to the MagicBand folks at the AP conversion area in the Odyssey they said that once FP+ is up and running completely paper FP's WILL GO AWAY. Everything will be FP+. Now, there is no timeframe for this, again according to the CM's. The 1 park/day is still in effect for FP+ -I didn't ask about the FP+ limits. I now have a RFID AP, and it works in the new RFID entry turnstyles. It also has a regular magnetic strip, like all 'old style' passes have, so, until FP goes away it works in the original FP terminals. Our family was part of the MK/Studios FP+ test last October, and we liked some of the features -one really nice one was we had the ability to schedule a FP+ for Toy Story Mania about 5pm on the day we got in. This was very very cool. There were still bugs in the system, but as the October test was one of the first to go to the public (a small slice but not CM's or family of CM's etc) you would expect that. The limit during the test was 3/day.we've also noticed WDW is going to need to really increase their wi-fi bandwidth and coverage if we're going to have to schedule/re-schedule FP+ using a smartphone/tablet.

This does not surprise me and I was guessing as much. Makes sense with everyone using RFID tickets, whether a band or paper ticket.

Back for business.

Please remember that items may be unconfirmed and announcements are a moving feast.
Therefore please remembered that the rules regarding respecting other posters still remains :goodvibes

Anyone know how the bands are going to work for people staying at multiple resorts in one trip?

Probably the same way it will go for those who already have MagicBands and arrive for a resort stay. At checkin they will need to attach the reservation to the profile associated with the MagicBand, if it isn't already associated with the profile.

A different question would be - if you already have MagicBands, can you choose to replace them with your next resort stay? We know they have a finite full-function lifespan, and we probably don't have to worry about it yet, but it will eventually need to be addressed.

Naturally. I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask. We're doing 1 night at AoA and 5 at OKW and I sure hope that doesn't exclude us from these.
