FP+ Info for a friend staying offsite?

I thought I remembered seeing a FP+ tutorial some time ago, but now I can't find it when I search.

A friend is staying at Bonnet Creek in July and I've been giving her a crash course in WDW touring. I'm just not sure how FP+ works for offsite guests...can someone enlighten me so I can pass it along?

Once inside the park she would purchase the band and take it to the kiosk to load the fast passes.

You don't need a Magic Band to use FP+ though.

FYI TinkTinkTink - they can be booked in advance for offsite guests and you don't need a band; they can be linked to tickets.
