On one of the FP+ threads on the Theme Park board, someone reported getting a talkative IT person when they called to get help with the MDE app. And that person said that Disney planned to continue testing through August and then have the system roll out at the Deluxe resorts in time for F&W. But taking that news with a grain of salt, there looks to be an outside chance things could be up and moving by then.

This thread got my attention, because we're also going in October. Only I'm hoping for opposite results than the OP. I just want ONE more trip without having to mess with all this new stuff.
