I don't understand what all the fuss is about for FP+.i went to the park in Oct and was part of the test group. We loved it! I could schedule our time with ease. For Instance say that Monday was a Magic Kingdom day, it would look like this:

8am: breakfast at Crystal Palace.
10 am: FP for SM
Do a few other things around the park
1pm: lunch at Cosmic Rayes (my kids favorite QS)
After lunch wonder do some other rides
3pm: FP for SM
wonder around again much to do and see in MK
7 pm FP for BTM
The rest of the night to wonder and explore.

Now remember these FP+ choices are based on my Families favorite rides, but you can pick any three of your choosing.

You can have similar days at all the parks. I found it to make life in the parks less stressful because I didn't have to run to the ride, get a fast pass and then go check out other things and then rush back for whatever opening I was given. You know from the start what time you should be there and you can plan your day in accordance to your FP+ selections and meal times. Providing you made ADRs.

I'm thinking different people have different experiences based on a lot of variables. We could probably have a wonderful trip in October too, if we could go in October or another slow period. We cannot. Three Fastpasses will not cut it for us when we visit in the busy summer months.

I'm going back The last week of April so I will see if it is more difficult. I was just saying that it worked well for us the first time. Hopefully the next trip will be just as well.

I'm with you plutolover. We went in December and loved the magic bands and fp+. And that was with trying to keep a group of 12 happy.

That's great for you.

Lots of people including myself don't like it. So when you say, I don't know what all the fuss is about????

Well, for us, we spent more time waiting in line at Guest Services or at our resort trying to get the MB's to work. And this was on three separate trips.

Please don't assume because you had a great experience with them, that everyone else will too.

Yes but you had 2 FP for the same ride, no longer allowed.

Worked great for us in Oct/Nov...Hoping to have the same experience when we arrive in early March! We are touring much differently lately...older kids that like to sleep in teamed with the ability to make FP+ reservations in the early afternoon suits OUR new touring style. May not work for everyone as in the past...but...don't shoot the messenger! :rolleyes1

My first thought as well.

My problem with alot of the FP+ threads is that we don't really know how it's going to be working in the long run. I can totally see stressing out over it if you're going within the next few months, but much past that, who knows what it will look like? Supposedly offsiters will be able to set up their FP+ ahead of time, for instance, which is not part of how it works right now.

From my perspective (as someone who is not going for another year or so), a lot of people are getting wound up about something that may be temporary. I don't think Disney's going to bail on FP+, but things are changing so fast that people are essentially reviewing -- and responding to -- very temporary situations. No one here knows what it's going to be long term.

I was there in October as well.Only a select few resorts had guests testing the system, so attraction availability was much better, the MM+ system wasn't as stressed, CMs trying to handle issues weren't as overloaded, FP- was in place and all resort guests were still issued KTTW cards. A lot has changed since then, very little for the better.

While I am NOT a fan of FP+ at ALL, my sister had a great trip with no glitches or issues at all from 12/16-12/31. She and her DH and DS loved everything about it (except the several frustrating hours it took them to schedule their FP's at home prior to the trip...which I THINK they did the second week of December).

Of course, I should mention they not only had access to and used Legacy FP many...MANY times during that trip in addition to FP+, using their KTTW card, but also had several instances of people gifting them extra Legacy FP.

but from a tech POV they had no problems at all.

We were also there in October and had a split stay with only our second resort testing. So essentially the first 5 days we were like off site guests are now, we couldn't use the app, and had to schedule once we were in the park. We strolled into Epcot late morning, hit the Kiosk at International Gateway and couldn't get a FP+ for TT- didn't make any sense. Finally, a CM told us when a ride is down you can't schedule it on the Kiosk. Well, back then, and maybe it's changed, there were no other kiosks in World Showcase, so no way to try again. It really was a pain.

When we got on the app, it was better, but the constant "finalizing" / "Blip in the network" was maddening!

Also since your trip and ours, things have changed. Tiers at HS and Epcot for rides we have always gotten FP- for. Everyone has access to FP+. Depending on group size I seriously doubt there will be a lot of flexibility for changes with FP+.

I'm glad it works for your family. I think with my kids getting older we will find things we like with FP+. I think people with just adults, small parties of 2 or less, groups with teenagers can find some great positives.

I'm puzzled though for the family with kids who aren't tall enough to ride all the rides. "Sorry youngest kid, we had to FP+ all the mountains and now your reward for waiting for us is you get to wait in standby for all of your rides!" This isn't my family, but it does apply to a huge amount of visitors and I haven't seen any real confirmation of how Disney is handling baby sway with FP+.

Even if I loved FP+, which we weren't that impressed with, I would still completely understand why others don't like it. I've been to Disney 30+ times in the last 16 years from being a couple (got married at Disney), through two kids being tweens, traveling with extra family members, first timers, kids with special needs... I can't imagine with some of those groups trying to plan 60 days out- what rides and what time they want to ride. I have no doubt it works well for some, it's all the other people who I think are the majority that concerns me.

But I think that is also what makes some of us so frustrated. Disney wants me to plan my ADRS 180 days in advance and has now locked me into them by instituting a cancellation fee. Now, they also want me to plan my FP 60 days out, but Disney can change the rules a week before I leave. Disney could alleviate some of this concern, by providing more information about FP Plus in the first place, but they didn't. Most of what we know is based on information shared by people who read and reread the TOS on MDE regularly. IMO, Disney could have been a lot more transparent with this whole process. It gives me the impression that they don't really know where they are going with this yet.

Well, true, nobody can predict the future but let's make a list of all of the CHANGES and IMPROVEMENTS that Disney has made to the FP+ system in the last SIX MONTHS:

1. Tiering

That's quite a list of fast changes and improvements, don't you think?

Worked great for us at a busy time too. What I find great about the system is that with the new technology, it will allow for many tweakings along the way.

FWIW..... I think you're being overly generous putting that in the "improvements" column. :)
