has anyone had problems arriving about 5-10 minutes after your window. is the 15 min grace period honored on a consistent basis or is it hit or miss depending on CM

It's not based on the CM, it's based on the system clock. However, if you're still a minute or two late for even your grace period, then it is CM discretion.

The mickey light stays green for 5 minutes before and 15 minutes after your time. As PP said, even 1 minute outside those parameters the CM won’t usually let you through unless you have a good excuse. I’ve been 6 minutes early and had to wait one minute to tap

Also, we had a situation where we had an ADR for BOG during the last bit of our return time for Mansion, unfortunately the FP return line was longer than normal and we were running later than we expected due to a medical issue in our group, we explained to the CM while we were still within our return window and they said we would be fine to come back after lunch and they would have done so, except the ride had broken down while we were at lunch, but still the point is if there are extenuating circumstances always explain politely and ask, the worst they can say is no.

Word of warning, do not attempt to use the FP grace period if you have any type of Anytime FP, be it one issued by GS or one issued due to the ride being out during your assigned FP time. If you do, the system will use your Anytime FP instead of the assigned FP.

I know this wasn't mentioned but, seeing how a grace period was being discussed it's always good to remind about the anytime FP and grace period issue.

This is excellent advice, and I don't think many people would even think of this.

Really? We had an anytime FP and were within the grace period at an attraction we had a FP+ for and didn't have an issue.

I don't think that using it inside of the grace period would pull an anytime....that would happen though if you accidentally were outside of the grace period. We've used the early 5 minutes while having anytime FP's and it has never pulled the anytime.

Y'all are like the only 2 who haven't had that happen. I have personally had it happen many times by not being more careful when scanning in. It's a very well reported issue. Possibly hit or miss but I can say it CAN happen without question.

Confused by this comment since this is when it is supposed to use the anytime FP

What I'm saying is that if I were planning to use the 5 minute grace period at the beginning (like we normally do) but accidentally tapped at 6 minutes, it would pull the anytime, not the FP that I was trying to use.

You are correct, which is what an anytime FP is supposed to do but in most people's experience, it will also use the anytime if you scan in at 5 min before. It did mine and a quick search you will find it has in many, many other cases.

If you notice that happened, simply go back to the CM and ask them to fix it, this can actually happen even if you are within your return window, so best to always double check.

i think it depends on the CM. I have been let in a couple minutes early on Soarin and Living with the land - one in Dec and one in Feb.

I did that once! I was with a group of six and we had an anytime FP that we decided to use on EE. We went to use our KS FP first and I forgot to look at the time and tapped - D'oh! Fortunately, I realized it as soon as I did it, and no one else tapped in until we were in the grace period. I explained it to the CMs and they were very nice about it and helped me work it out so I could still do EE with my group - it was very nice of them since it was entirely my fault, lol!

Count me in as number 3. I’ve never used an anytime fp by scanning in on another fp when I’ve scanned in either early or late within the grace period. I’ve never heard it discussed as an issue before either. I’m sure it could happen though.

I have definitely had an anytime used while in the grace period of an FP I was trying to use. But that happened 3 years ago. I've been very careful ever since. Possibly they have changed it and this doesn't happen anymore. I wouldn't have noticed a change because of my caution after having been burned.

Is everyone saying there is inconsistency with Disney and their CMs and their IT?! I don’t believe it! /s
