FP grace period

So, would it be ok to rush in the rain to make the last 15 minutes of your one hour FP time period, or is it only not OK to rush to make your 15 grace period?

Inquiring minds want to know ;)

And what if it's just sprinkling? :confused3

I know you asked about being turned away, but I thought I'd chime in anyway. We used a FP 3 minutes after our time expired. We didn't plan it that way;it just happened. There was no emergency, we just misjudged our time. We rushed to get to TSM, and when I noticed their clock had Y:33 (Fp was from X:30-Y:30) I politely asked if we were too late. Obviously we were, but being on DIS I figured we may have had the 15 minute grace period. Again, I wasn't trying to "break any rules". If we would've been told no I would've said ok and walked away. We were told "you're a little late but you can go in", we thanked the cast member, and we went on our way.

Wow, how DARE you put that CM is such an awful predicament!!!

You forced them to be HUMAN and deal with your polite inquiry and allow you to enter the ride 3 minutes late??? Geeze how much more are you going to ask of them - where the closest bathroom might be???

FP Police you better get on this one - she's crazy presumptuous!! :rolleyes2 :rolleyes1

In all seriousness I am THRILLED you got on the ride and took the place of a would be by-the-booker!

Sydnerella's Mama

Exactly! We are still going down this path???? Unbelieveable that some people cannot let this go and stop playing fastpass cop. Glad you are perfect and have never showed up late for anything at little to no fault of your own like the Dr., or school, or a party, a meeting or a ride. You should have been told in each instance to go home - it's their place!

Honestly - get over it already.

Me? I am over it. I got over it within minutes of them announcing that they were going to enforce the time rule. I adjusted my touring plan (at least what I have of one) and got the times that I could fit in and easily returned within the time allotted. However, it seems that others are just not going to stop "testing" like a 6 year old the limits to see if they can get away with something.

Since they are all acting like children they felt the need to tell everyone what they got away with. Now armed with that information you can be sure that others will now try it. They don't even have to honor 1 second beyond the published times much less a 15 minute grace period. So, I think everyone should just push the boundaries and see if Disney just turns their cheek or maybe decides that 15 minutes was too much.

OMG!

This is too funny.

No being late! No using the grace period! No rushing to be on time (especially if there is or was rain)!

Yeah, we're gonna be late...and use the grace period...and hurry if want to, even in middle to hard rain.

Soon people will be describing how Disney has those anti-slip roads, so that is why it is okay to hurry after the rain, but not during, etc.

I'm not sure how someone will figure out a way that it will cost them an extra $.00000000031 per trip because of all the rude and irresponsible Grace Period Using, but I'm confidant that they will, lol.

And here we thought all that silly stuff was over.

When in Epcot over Easter my son and I lined in the single rider line for TT. Posted wait time 30mins. Actual wait time 1 hour 10mins! Now we were off to MS afterwards and had we had an FP we would have missed that window, because we were relying on the posted wait time being accurate. It wouldn't have been our fault. If we had been refused our grace period and denied entry I might have been sore. As it was we were lining in the regular line so it wasn't an issue but it's an intersting hypothetical dilemma.

Im here now and have asked and was told 15 minutes. The CM said the grace period was honored in regard to dining running late with receipt (first time I had heard that). I've stayed within my times or gave my passes away. dining has been the only thing that has caused use some issues.

With the benefit of hindsight, is it not logical to assume now that the policy put in place since March 7 was done to pave the way for FastPass+, or at least a test of it? If so, then should anyone need worry about the dangerously slippery slope that leads to lax enforcement, dogs and cats living together, and mass late FP hysteria?

My impression is that the FP return policy as currently implemented is here to stay. Whether you think 15 minutes of slack is too much or too little--deal with it. It's not your park.

without reading, i realize there's a good chance this thread is way past answering questions about the "grace period" :lmao: but just wanted to chime in about the 5 minute grace period before your time starts -- on our recent trip, we tried to go back about 10 minutes early and they wouldn't let us. We stepped away then went back at about 7 minutes before, and still couldn't. The CM stood there and stared at his watch until it hit exactly 5 minutes, then let us in.

I just dont understand why people are still trying to game the system. Why come back 10 minutes before your FP window and try to be admitted in?

It is pretty simple now that enforcement has begun. You FP window is CLEARLY printed on your FP. No need to show up 7 minutes early or 20 minutes late and try to use your FP just to test it out and hope they arent enforcing it strictly.

And if you miss an FP window because of the CHOICES that you made then just accept responsibility for your actions and move on.

n.

we weren't trying to "game the system", this was *right* after they started
the new policy so we didn't know how exactly they'd be enforcing or what exactly the grace periods were going to be.

Your actions indicate otherwise. The ticket has an hour window printed on it. Why would you think that you could use it 10 minutes before that hour? Why even test it?

because I knew that they would have some sort of grace period, i just didn't know exactly what it was yet -the 5/15 had not been widely reported at that point. I actually kind of thought it was going to be 15 minutes before *and* after, not 5 minutes before and 15 minutes after.

If a CM allows a guest in early or late,
it's on the CM (and therefore Disney,) not the guest.

The previous FP policy was regulated by Disney.
The current FP policy is regulated by Disney.

Not sure I understand you or that you understand me. I am annoyed with all of the people admonishing people who show up late or in the grace period. They are acting like FP cops and need to find someway to let it go. And my point is that I am certain they have all been late at one time or another in life - so stop being so angry at everyone else and thinking they are evil and gaming the system.

No. answering questions is not being a FP cop - being rude to posters who share their experiences by accusing them of severe wrong doing is and it bugs.

Same as the level annoyance I have by reading all the whining of the people who took advantage of non-enforcement in the past. And now many of these same people are continuing to look for ways to game the system.

Yes, I have been late before but I accept that and take responsibility and accountability for that and not expect others to accommodate and make special exceptions for my poor choices and actions.

Good point. If you have a hair appt. at 9:30 and get there at 9:15 and ask if they can take you early and they say yes.....does that mean you are being sneaky and disrespectful and gaming the system?

Now now...
Stop trying to muddy the water with common sense!

Since I am apparently one of those "annoying" people that have the nerve to call it the way I see it, I guess I fall into that same annoyed with the testers category.

A few weeks ago, while I was in WDW my group had the occasion to be given something that I didn't ask for and really is against the established rules. It was done as a Pixie Dust action and it was a very nice thing for them to do. You know what, since I am a annoyingly active person on these boards I have not talked about it at all. Not because I wasn't appreciative of the action, but because I knew that if I posted the action here, there would be a number of folks that would think to themselves...well, if they did it for him maybe they will do it for us. Then instead of "magic" it is now an entitlement. I didn't attempt to get this perk, in fact it was the furthest thing from my mind. It was just given, possibly because I didn't ask, I don't know what the thought pattern of the CM was. (Nothing to do with FP, BTW) I wouldn't hesitate to tell my close friends about it because it was a very nice thing, however, I wouldn't ever repeat it, especially in this type of thread, to a certain group of people that are only trying to find a way around the rules. Not a chance!

To intentionally attempt to go early or late just to see what would happen and then when someone was given a bit of magic, it becomes a "let me tell everyone that they did this". Humans, being human will give it a try and before to long the magic will be taken away because it has become a hassle. I guess that makes me a Cop of some sort but it is because many of us can see beyond this minute and know that certain actions although successful at the time, can eventually, with enough momentum, become the end of it happening to anyone.

So if my "stick to the rules" unless there is a real reason like ride breakdown or slow meal (even though that is controllable) stance is annoying, it is no more annoying then someone that is constantly trying to get more than someone else is to me. So I guess we're even!::yes::
