Planning an visit in summer at an offsite condo. We are AP holders but our APs expire next week. With 4 months in between now and our trip, we would not normally buy new APs until we arrive.

Does that leave us out of luck for FP+ until we get the APs? Does getting an AP voucher in advance (if they still exist) allow us to reserve some FP+ without having to activate APs before we would use them?

Maybe.
Have you stayed at an on-site WDW resort and gotten MagicBands, yet?

(And, we have no idea what the situation for AP holders and FP+ will be by the time of your trip.)

No we do not have bands yet. We do have AP tickets that expire in a few days.

Since you are staying offsite and don't have MagicBands, you couldn't pre-book your FP+ even if you had an annual pass that was valid for your summer visit.

At least that is the qualification at this time. Subject to change without notice if/when Disney decides to send MagicBands to everyone with an AP.

Yep to this.

You might want to think about booking a night on the front of your stay at a value and then linking your AP voucher if APs don't get access before your trip.

You could do what we are doing, buy tickets from Undercover Tourist and upgrade the tickets when you get there to an AP. I'm not 100% on if this will mess up FP+ or not when you upgraded, but it would give you access earlier.

1- Yes, that will work.

2- It won't hurt FP+,
however, at this point the OP can't make FP+ reservations because their party is not staying at a WDW resort.

3- Another option is to order an AP voucher and use that voucher number in MDE.
That will immediately grant access to FP+ (but, again, only if the guest is registered at an on-site WDW resort.)

I thought he was staying offsite so linking tickets wouldnt work? Just trying to understand to alleviate my own confusion..

They won't.

(Although, again, we don't know if or when that will change as FP+ "evolves.")
