FP+ for day of check-in and check-out?

We are staying 8 nights at POFQ, but I'm not sure how FP+ works on check-in/check-out days. Do we get fastpasses for those days? Thanks for any help.

You will have FP+ for each day of your park tickets

the number of nights you're staying doesn't matter - the FP are connected to the number of days worth of tickets that you have. So if you have a 9 day ticket you get 9 days worth of FP - does that make sense?

Along those same lines, if I'm staying for 6 nights, but only have a 5-day ticket, what happens? I'm planning to spend a day (and probably departure day) not in the parks. Problem is, we'll kind of play it by ear as to which day we actually stay at the resort.

For example, might be Wed or Thurs. We book ADRs at non-park restaurants for both days, so that's not an issue. But I know one of those days we'll end up at HS. I was thinking I could book FP+ for both days and then just not use one day's worth. That won't work? I'll have to pick a day and then possibly cancel and rebook? And then will there even be the FPs available that I want?

How does this work?

Yes, you'll have to book them and then reschedule if you change your mind about which day to stay at the resort.
