FP+ Details Are Out!

I haven't been reading through this, so just wondering how it works. I'll be in January (which I assume I won't really need them anyway), so how's it work? You book it online 60 days in advance, then what? Do you print out a confirmation of some sort or what?

You can print out your times or simply use your smart phone to keep track.

I spoke at length with a tech CM earlier this week who informed me that multiple park FP+ WOULD be available, but probably a year or more down the line. That there was enough concern and complaints coming in on feedback that the option will be implemented, but that there are no plans to try to fit it into the initial roll-out.

FWIW.

What will be interesting if they eventually allow multi park FP+ is if they limit guests to 3 per day or 3 per park per day. In that case i could see hopping spike. Hit Magic Kingdom at RD and do three Fast Pass+ attractions and maybe a few other short lines. Then hop over t Epcot and do 3 Fast Pass+ and maybe a few short lines. Then a guest could flip flop the two parks for AM and PM anither day. I could be one a fan of park hopping if at each park i had 3 or 3+1 Fast Pass+ Would even make me think about returning to resort mid day for a break.

Also. For those who like to do three or four parks in a day this could be a big benefit

So to be clear, guest will still be able to use the regular FastPass system if they don't qualify for FastPass+?

I could absolutely see enjoying this. I'm not much of a mid-day break person, but then I don't normally get park-hoppers. But if I could schedule guaranteed FP+ somewhere else...might make it worth it. Of course, I can just imagine what people would be saying if Disney implements it with "3 FP+ for 1 park OR 5 per day in 2 or more parks". :rotfl2:

I'm gonna sit by the sidelines and laugh.

It would entice me to start doing multiple parks, just to schedule in multi-character M&G. Make it a goal to try to get 40+ autographs/pictures a day. Or something like that. :thumbsup2

Yes. Disney has stated that FP will continue until FP+ is fully rolled out. The amount of overlap is yet to be determined, though.

Hopefully it won't fully implemented until after our vacation in November. Yeah that's a little selfish, but preparing for a 1st time Disney World trip is overwhelming enough. :)

Congratulations on the trip. Hope it is magical. pixiedust:

I do recommend that you keep updated on the rollout of FP+, though. One of the FAQ does state that if you are eligible for FP+ and opt not to use it, you will not be eligible to use regular FP.

Most likely, eligibility will be in the form of staying on-property and/or purchasing tickets direct through Disney. :confused3

Good luck, though. And have lots and lots of fun!!pixiedust:

I was sort of wondering the same thing. I will have to get used to not having an actual printed ticket with the time on it. Since I don't have a smart phone I will have to come up with some system to keep my FP+ times straight

You can always check the kiosks that are around the park or request a print out from Guest Relations or the front desk of your hotel.

Terrible system. Another reason why innovations on universal's end is getting better and disney is slowing. Can't wait to book my fast pass for avatar six months in advance.

Was construction started on Avatar yet? I believe they said it would start in 2013 and end in 2016 in the initial press release a couple years ago.

I contacted one of the Downtown Disney hotels and asked about Magic Bands and FP+. According to the information I received, they've been told not to expect any kind of full roll out of Magic Bands and full access to FP+ until at least January 2014.

Planning a trip for January 2014, staying on property, so I am preparing to use FP+. Does anyone from the August test (or previous tests) know if FP+ will be available during EMH?? I can't find anything through searching DIS.

It would make me more likely to hop to a park with evening EMH if we had fast passes booked.

I have been reading the great debate on this subject and unfortunately now that I have seen it for myself...I am NOT a fan

My observations are this:
Not a fan
Turnstyles may be easier, but also easier for people to cut, had a family do this to our family at HS yesterday

Waits are longer on rides that did not use to have FP's

Additionally, I kept thinking each day we have toured a park that I would be VERY unhappy with 3 fast passes and especially if they were for secondary rides. We stay off stite so if all the on site participants got first shot at TSM, SM, TT, BTMR, SM, RNR, TOT and Soarin. To say that I would be unhappy is an understatement of epic proportions.

All in all not a fan the new so called benefits of convenience do not outweigh the negatives. This is one long time Disney consumer that would be unhappy with the so called new benefits.

Not going to debate this one at all with anyone, I have now seen it for myself and nothing would change my mind on this subject.

As far as I'm concerned, I expect to be invited at 17 days out based on what I've read here.

As I've said before, if I didn't read these boards, and only paid attention to the MDE website, all I'd know is that was asked to customize my bands, they are now ready to ship, and I've been able to make the FP+ reservations. That's a pretty big rug for Disney to pull out from under someone on a vacation at the last second. I don't expect that to happen.

Following up on this PP. I still haven't received anything via phone, email, or UPS inviting us to participate in a test. Our MagicBands shipped out and will be delivered on Monday. We will be at the CR beginning on August 13th. I'm pretty certain an invitation will come at 17 days out.

Exactly my experience as well. We arrive on the 17th. I fully expect my invitation around August 1st. I will have had the bands since 7/22 at that point.

Find that hard to believe.. CM say anything
