FP+ Details Are Out!

I'm thinking we will still hit RD at the parks, go on everything we can stand by and then use FP+ for late afternoon or night time rides.... From what everyone knows about FP+ does this sound possible? Is it still going to be only three fastpasses per day? Thanks!!!

If you can secure FP+ ressies for afternoon or night slots, then, yes, that is the best strategy.

Those FP+ spots are going to be the hardest to get, of course.

I can't even imagine how slow that standby line would be if they start giving FP+ slots priority. We might never ride it again.

Note to self: Be sure to ride it one last time at DLR this year.

It's not as exciting at DLR and you'll probably be dissapointed. It's on the ground level and not up two stories. One of the things I'm most looking forward to on our WDW trip (DLR is my home park) is riding the Astro Orbiter up where it belongs!

There is a lot of stuff showing up the Disney My Experience about FP+ and magic bands. Info in FAQ's and other places so it appears rollout will be relatively soon if testing goes well. The question is when?

I would bet more tests will take place in July and/or August and then when September hits, the least busy time of the year, that would be the time to either do a full system test or a full roll out. I bet full rollout.

The wording all says later this year, and there is no better time than September. Least impact and easiest rollout. Then Disney has time to tweak before high loads arrive.

I am not worried about it at all. If any problems happen, I am sure Disney will have a method to give you free FP+'s in response. I arrive September 5th and hope we get selected to test or it is rolled out.

I like the idea of reserving a place for the parade and going ahead and riding rides instead of wasting tons of time being early to save a spot for the parade!



Also note this interesting piece below from the website. You do not have to use a band, you may use a card which will work on the short range scanners but not the long, so they won't know as much about your activity and you won't get as much customization:

"Each MagicBand contains an HF Radio Frequency device and a transmitter which sends and receives RF signals through a small antenna inside the MagicBand and enables it to be detected at short-range touch points throughout Walt Disney World Resort. MagicBands can also be read by long-range readers located at Walt Disney World Resort used to deliver personalized experiences, as well as provide information that helps us improve the overall experience in our parks.
If you prefer, you may elect to use a card instead of a MagicBand. Cards contain a passive HF Radio Frequency chip and cannot be detected by the long-range readers."

That makes sense. Thanks! Also, do we know yet how the ressies will work? Is it going to be a 180 day out type thing like dining ressies? I don't think it will be available for my 180 day mark which will be in August since it won't be up and rolling yet, but I'll have to keep a very close eye out for what's happening.

As of right now, everything is pointing to 60 days for FPRs (FastPass Reservations ). There is potential for this to change, of course, pretty much everything is subject to change, but this seems to currently be the best bet.

There is also likelihood/possibility of on-side resort guests gaining the "+10" advantage in a similar manner to ADRs.

Yet that is exactly how I think this will go. Disney seems to confuse "chaos" with "excitement".

But honestly, as long as you keep your ear to the ground here, there are advantages to being in the first group. It will take a while for the general public to catch on to this.

Ohhhhh. Since we stay on-site I wouldn't hate that at all. 60 days actually sounds better than 180. I can get the ADRs done and then worry about FPRs. Ha ha

So, my family of 10 will be visiting in October. We have 3 different reservation numbers that are linked together in Disney's system. So, my question is. Will I be able to make fast pass reservations for the entire group, or will a member of each party have to go on and try to get fast passes for the same time?

I don't see them avoiding this. I think the limit on the system will be 60 days. But I don't think that means they will GIVE you 60 days before they roll it out officially.

However, even if they give you 30 days, everyone else will be in the same boat.

I read where someone was reporting they were told that changes were coming to GAC sooner rather than later but didn't have any details. That sounds real official huh?? Something to help with the abuses that have been going on with the system. In no way am I saying that's what you doing!

The only changes I've heard for GACs is that they will only be good for two weeks at a time. This is to prevent some of the abuses that were highlighted on TV.

They have to start sometime and waiting until you're 60 days from rollout to announce would be equally chaotic. They shorten the booking windows for restaurants when they open for the first time or re-open after a refurb. It's not going to be zero entry, Disney is gonna throw us in the deep end.

We're 72 days out from our sept. trip and I'm hoping for a test or for the whole thing to be rolled out.

Do any disney experts think they will need a press conference or official event to announce this or will they just do it?

This is just a guess ...
I'm guessing that we will start to see more testing soon...

If there is another round of testing, I would think it would be the end of July or beginning of August...and if that goes well...

Maybe at the end of August, another round of 'testing' with more resorts, but at the end of testing they stay live with magic bands and fastpass+....

Maybe resorts will be added in one/two at a time beginning in September, with both programs being available till January in a consistent form, and then starting in January, maybe the regular fast pass system will start to be removed, if they still do that at all.

But your guess is as good as mine...I doubt they will flip a switch and put all resorts live on FP+ the same day - that would be insane.

Ok, here is another situation. My mom has 2 left over tickets. One with 2 days park hopper and one 3 day base ticket. One day we want to park hop but another day not, so we would switch up her ticket and save the park hopper ticket to use on another trip that we would park hop. How would we go about having both tickets listed and what would happen if the FP+s were not set up on the ticket we used for the park that day? Seems to me that the FP+s would be lost for that day. We of course could get some of those same day FP+s but who knows if they would have anything that would work with the ones already set up.
