FP+ currently down so mad

I feel like disney missed the boat by immediately converting to the FP+ system. They should have introduced the magic bands, but kept the old system of fastpasses made in the parks with touchstiles. That way, they would have the hardware in place, while they could work on the software end of things. With a staged introduction, people would have kicked up much less of a fuss, and become used to the technology.

So my day gets even better. Decided to come back to the yacht club to hang by the pool. Not a seat to be found. 75% of the chairs just have towels and it's obvious no one had been there for a while. So we go over to the smaller pool. Finally get relaxed and then are told we have to leave because there is. Private party. Cmon man!anyone have the email so I can complain to Disney.

Despite the signs at the pools telling people not to reserve chairs with towels or other personal items, some people seem to feel like they're entitled to reserve a chair for a whole day while they go off and do other things.

If I can't find a chair I don't hesitate to toss someone's towel aside and sit in the chair. If someone comes back and tells me I have taken their chair, I will let them have it. But, you know what, that has never happened. Usually there are a lot more chairs with towels on them than people in the pool.

It also bothers me when people feel like they have to reserve a chair for every one of their kids, even though the kids are never going to sit in them.

Well, don't forget they tried a gradual introduction over 18 months.

They just never really took a "lessons learned" break to work out some of the kinks...

I was there for their gradual introduction, or better called the guinea pig stage and it was a total hot mess.

Magic bands malfunctioned, fp+ totally disappeared... CM getting yelled at for IT problems that they had nothing to do with.

Really I don't blame anyone for being upset over fp+ birth. It was painful to watch. It is painful to still hear the IT problems.

I dont blame long term visitor for taking a break, I do feel sorry for ill informed people that have first trips planned during this madness.

That is EXACTLY the reason we stopped going to our favorite all-inclusive in Cancun. Many of the guests would get up early, go out to the pools, drape towels over the chairs and not return until later that day. By the time we'd get there we couldn't find anywhere to sit even though there were twice as many chairs as people in the pool. It was very frustrating and it got to the point whenever we'd start to book that resort again we'd remember the pool situation and decide against it. I can't say I've seen that happening at Disney World, though, but then we never spent a lot of time lounging around the pools because our park time is very precious to us.

Do the people who call in Tragic Band or Tragic Plus realize that by using those words they just make their dislike of the system sound juvenile? I doubt anyone here is going " Ha ha, good one!" It just makes them sound silly, and makes the issues seem less impactful then they probably really are. You are minimizing the problem.

Funny that ...cause imho the title "tragic" seemed very appropriate. When I first heard it, I thought hmmm now that is likely to catch on.

Just remember to be kind and patient to the CMs, because as much as your day sucks big wind at the parks, they live with this day in and day out. I don't think they got a vote when it came to implementing FP+. Hope it clears us soon.

So now instead of telling people what they should like or dislike, someone is policing someone else's sense humor. For the record, I giggle every time I see someone call it Tragic Plus. So I guess that makes me juvenile by your estimation.

No kidding...does that mean though that every time someone posts something I think is "juvenile" I should say so ? Nah, I'd never have enough time some days :)

I don't think they do it to be funny. I think they do it to be mean. Just like many other "cute" phrases on the Dis. Ymmv

Exactly. And this extends to the customer service rep cms and the IT cms that will be called and emailed.

Really what about the time the FP- system ate my ticket???? It was a pita in the first year of fp- too. Relax, Disney will work out the bugs I hope.

The one time I had an issue with the Legacy system, a CM was standing right there, reached inside and grabbed a new FP for me. Took all of 3 seconds. Work out the bugs? How many years and millions of dollars does it take to "work out the bugs"?

My ticket was stuck and they had to take apart half the machine or rip it to pieces to get it out. Not to mention there where rides lots of people had to do standby in early afternoon. because fp- where always gone.

Don't know, but I'm old enough to remember pre fastpass - too, maybe that's the difference.

I choose to go to Disney as an adult, when its slower.

I would have no problem paying for express unlimited passes, we do at other parks.

Disney has a volume problem, plan and simple.

Do you know how long and how many dollars it will take to fix a problem? Doesn't seem like a big problem to Disney. Their volume and profit is up.

Hey, I like the bands, and I laughed.

You hit the nail on the head. That's exactly why there are so many issues left untouched around the property. As long as the dough is rolling in and shareholders are happy, then everything is status quo.

which runs right back to a volume problem, more guest = more wear and tear = higher ticket prices to fix and or replace warn out stuff.

Except that ticket prices have constantly rising over the last what, 15-20 years, while maintenance has been lacking over that time. The attendance figures have also been pretty stale over the last 10 years or so, so that's not the issue. It's as simple as the CEO/shareholders benefiting from price increases. That 34 million dollar compensation package that Bobby boy got didn't appear out of nowhere.
