I haven't seen this one answered before - and I'm not sure this is the right place to post the question - but I'm going to try.
We are traveling to WDW this fall with another couple. The last time we traveled with another couple, we all stayed together in a 2 bedroom at SSR. Because we were all staying together it was simple to make FP+ reservations - we showed up as one traveling party.
This fall we are staying in a villa for points, the other couple is staying in a villa for cash (both at SSR). We have waitlisted a 2 bedroom villa at BLT and if it comes through we will all stay there in one villa together.
Here's what I'm wondering. It is quite probable that the time when we can book FP+ will arrive before our waitlist comes through. We are a group of planners - so we'd like to book FP's as soon as we can. If we book FP's while we have our separate SSR reservations and then a week later the waitlist comes through and we add our friends to our reservation - will that mess up the FP's they've booked? I believe the FP's are just linked to each of our park passes - but I want to be sure before we get started.
Thanks all!

I don't think it will affect things. My observation is that it checks to see if you are qualified to make the FP's and then that's it. FP's are linked to individuals and not the rooms - the room is just what qualifies you to make the FP at 60 days otherwise it would be 30 days.

You've got nothing to worry about. If you make FP+ reservations at 60 days and cancel your resort, your FP+ will remain in place. Between 30-60 days out, you won't be able to make any changes to them. Once you re-book your resort, or when you hit 30 days out, you'll be able to modify them again.
