FP+ and canceling hotel reservations

If we made FP+ selections at 60 days out using hotel reservations, but we need to cancel the hotel reservations, are the FP+ selections automatically canceled too? We have the opportunity to switch from a regular room to a friend's DVC so we would rather stay there, but don't want to lose the FP+

If you're staying DVC and your names are on the reservation, just link the new confirmation to MDE. You'll want to do that for EMH or similar anyway.

Your FPs are based on your ticket entitlements not your room accommodations. You won't lose your FPs.

We are AP holders, so usually blocked to the 30 day window. This won't make a difference?

We aren't on it yet, but I'd like to get a refund started through the regular WDW booking. A few of their party can't go anymore so we're going to be switched on.

We bought APs in August of 2015.
We arrived on Nov. 13th, 2016,
for a 15-Night /16 Day Stay.

OUR APs expire on Nov. 24th, 2016.
We had DVC rooms booked, also 7-Nights @ the FQ. When we arrived on 11/13,
we had 12 Days of FPs, the 13th, thru & incl the 24th.

We planned on buying 1- Day Epcot Tickets as we had a Candlelight Processional Dinner Pkg booked for Friday, the 25th.

On the afternoon of Wed., Nov. 16th,
I re-checked my MDE,
seeing ALL of our FPs( and ADRs/Special Events).
We had 2 minutes before leaving to catch FPs @ AK.

I was shocked to SEE EIGHT
Emails from Disney
SAYing in the subject line,
" ACTION REQUIRED!!!!".

ThUS was @ 3 pm,
the emails were dated 7:30 am ,
THAT very morning.

EACH email said that our FPs--
One email for the VERY NEXT Day--11/17;
one for the 18th,
EIGHT in all,
thru & INCL the 24th,

threatened
TO CANCEL,
BY the VERY NEXT morning-- the 17th--'AND
ALL 8 Days of our FPs,
Unless we purchased MORE Tickets & linked them BY the 17th!!!!!

Normally, I would NEVER HAD SEEN
those 8
Threatening emails,
YET had checked MDE on the morning of the 17th,
TO FIND that Day!s and ALL the REST of our Days' FPs
Cancelled!!!!!!!!!

Disney IS noticing Cancellation of ON/Site Resort Reservation,
AND messing with Guests' FPs

I. NO. Longer. TRUST. Disney!!!!
I do not feel SAFE in booking
ANYTHING with THEM!!!!

It's with off-site and APs. Disney has added restrictions to FPs booked with APs.

If you have booked for onsite and have more than the allotted 7 day max, you are okay because you are onsite. Trying to book for off-site beyond your 7-day max that's already alotted to an onsite stay, the system restricts any FP booking until you have used one day.

That explains WHY the Animal Kingdom Guest Relations CMs said the reason was that we had 9 Days of FPs( INCL the 2 On-Site Days),
AND that we needed to get DOWN to 7 Days! SO they deleted--right on the spot!-- our last 2 Days of FPs( the 23rd & the 24th),
as they were BOTH AK Days,
AND gave us Paper FPs for both Days!
