We will be purchasing tickets for our trip tomorrow hopefully. This trip seems so last minute because I am usually booking and planning at least 8-10 months in advance. Our last trip was 7 years ago, and from the boards, it seems things have changed a lot. My DH job is sending him for work, so we figured why not take the kids to WDW for the week! We are arriving August 19th :earseek:What are the odds of getting FP or ADR for anything or anywhere good??? We are not staying onsite unfortunately.

Use the Touring Plans ADR Finder to nab whatever ADR’s you can’t get now! I snagged everything I wanted that way at around 30 days out, and we booked our trip at around 100 days out.

You're still booking plenty far in advance and will be able to grab almost every FP and have a slew of ADR's to choose from.

I usually books stuff about 2-3 weeks out and can select everything except for like Pandora, Frozen, and 7dmt

You’ll be fine. You might not be able to get everything exactly as you wanted, but you should be able to get most. Download the My Disney Experience app to your phone and keep checking for ADRs and FP leading up to your trip. We booked last minute last year and I was still able to get a Be Our Guest dinner reservation on a Saturday night by checking every day!

So now after a long conversation, we have decided to wait and get tickets about a week before we are planning to go. The reason is due to hurricane season and tickets being nonrefundable. Obviously Florida is prone to hurricanes, but we live near the Gulf of Mexico about an hour from Houston, and we are also very prone to hurricanes. In fact, last year we were in the middle of hurricane Harvey, with flood waters surrounding our city making it basically and island and no running water for days. So, I’m terrified I’ll spend all this money and then not be able to travel.

How can I possibly plan out everything in a week?!?!?! Can I get FP for rides like Splash Mountain, PPF, BTMR, SM, TSMM, etc, or dining reservations at Be Our Guest, Cinderella Castle, or Crystal Palace??

You should be able to find everything ADR wise, even hard to get places if you have persistence and don’t give up. Don’t get discouraged if you don’t see what you want right now.

You’ll have the best luck at 60 and 30 days out and then last minute. People will drop ADR at those dates, making them available for you to scoop up. They’ll drop ones that either conflict with hard to get FP or extras they were holding onto until they saw which FP times they were able to get. The next best time to look is last minute. Many people will hold onto extra ADR just in case plans change, only canceling right before they’d incur a no show fee.

Some people do like the Touring Plans ADR finder, and it’s free. You basically go to their site and set up alerts for a specific restaurant. I’ve never had much luck with this method. Usually by the time I see the alert and get logged into the Disney site, the ADR has already been snatched up by someone else.

What has worked best for me is the refresh method. I simply open the site on my computer or iPad and then periodically throughout the day I hit refresh on the page. Sometimes it takes a few days or a week, but usually something shows up eventually.

You don’t need tickets to make dining reservations. Go ahead and make all those. As long as they aren’t a pay up front place (Cinderella’s Castle is the one coming to mind), you can cancel last minute if you decide not to go.

Then use a combination of rope drop and the refresh method to get your FP. There are a number of dedicated Refresh method threads. Check them out. You’ll be fine.

Thank you so much! I had no idea I I could book ADR without having tickets already purchased.

Fp you should be ok. ADRs, it depends. I would get them as soon as you can. Keep checking as people cancel and they become available. Also check touringplans.com reservation finder. It has found plenty of hard to get ADRs for us.
Good luck and enjoy!

You can get FPs for Splash, BTMR, SM a week ahead of time. TSM and PPF might not be available a week out but book whatever you can and check back in the 48 hours before, especially the night before and morning of for better times. Read the FP stickies (and other active threads) about refreshing.

Book your meals now, and tweak as they come available. You do not need tickets to book meals. I know people say FP are nto too difficult to come by if you keep checking, so when you make your ticket purchase book them. To be honest, there will be so much to do and so many changes from the last visit that any attractions you may not have a pass for will not be a let down.

I had Mine Train FP twice and missed it because something better was happening and we chose to just enjoy what we were doing. Finally on the third trip I went on that attraction, but if I had missed it, there would have been no regrets because there is a lot of fun throughout the parks.

You'll be fine. We booked our trip 8 (yes, 8!) days out in April and got all the ADRs we wanted (even at times we wanted) and FP for everything (even FoP) we wanted except 7DMT (and one was available, it was just too late in the day for us). Even if you don't find the exact time you want for a specific restaurant, just book it and then check a couple of times every day to see if you can modify it. :) Have fun planning!

Do you need a ticket to book BOG restaurant?

No. You do not need advance tickets to book any dining reservation. But obviously you need tickets to enter the park to eat there.

This. And we could have eaten any meal at BOG we wanted to and ended up with a late breakfast- but over the course of a few days of checking, we could have snagged early breakfast, later breakfast, lunch, or a late dinner. :)

Can I book them now, or does it have to be 60 or 30 days prior? Our trip is 8/20-8/24
