FP+ and a family of 6

We are going to Disney this August for six days. We usually plan on 2 days at MK, 1 Ep, 1 DHS and 1 AK, and 1 day to repeat DHS or Epcot, whichever we feel like doing. Sometimes we don't even know the night before which park we will repeat on our last day. I recently recieved my tickets and have been playing around with booking FP+, so when my 60 day window opens I will be prepared. I tried booking TSMM for the next three days for a party of 6 and there was no availability. Is this common? Is there a trick for getting last minute FP+ for large parties? I am worried that we are going in Aug, which might be more crowded then it is now, and we won't be able to book TSMM or Test Track, depending on which park we end up in on our last day.

I haven't tried booking last minute, but one top that I had to use to book some FP was to split up your party into smaller groups and then copy the FP. This sometimes works because sometimes there are some slots available, but just not enough for your entire party at one time. If you book for some and then copy, you may not have the exact time, but you should be able to find overlapping times (as long as there is some availability). Other than that, I would book FP for one of your maybe parks, that way you have a 50/50 chance of having the FP you need. Also it seems that they may release some FP the day of, so there is some chance of acquiring a last minute FP.
