The shortest I have ever seen was 45 minutes from the current time. It was at KS and the standby line was 45 minutes. I could not understand why anyone would get in the standby line when they could grab a fastpass and do something more productive without a significant change in the time they would ride.
That might be me! KS is my favorite attraction in that park. I would absolutely pull a FastPass with a 10-11 return window at 9:15, when the standby line was at 45 minutes, then get in that line.

You know, none of this will matter come December 21 anyhow. Only 9 months and 7 days left to beat this dead horse.

Please forgive my ignorance, but what is the significance of December 21? Is that being reported somewhere as the implementation date for x-pass? If not, then what?

I can see doing that in order to ride twice. In that case, riding standby IS the other thing you're doing while waiting for your FP time. But, again, I think that is the exception rather than the rule. A lot of those people in line are most likely clueless that they could get a FP and come back in an hour rather than waiting in that line for an hour.

Think Mayan calendar -- it's the end of the world as we know it (and I feel fine). :rolleyes1

I know -- why couldn't it have been the Brazilian Tour Group calendar, eh?

...Why would you wait in a line for 45-60 minutes when you can grab a FP and do something else during that time?...

I do that for Splash Mountain. I love the ride. I grab a fast pass, get in line and ride, then when I get off it is time to ride again. It allows me to get in two rides with out wasting time or energy walking across the park to something else.

( I don't do BTM so other rides I do are not that close.)

Like I said to the other poster, it makes sense if you want to ride something essentially twice in a row, but it's highly unlikely that all those people in line are using a similar strategy.

Oh, ok. I get it now.

Exactly, people want ins and outs, how to get around rules that are very clearly stated now.

For some, sure. Some also just want to know what the legitimate exceptions are and how they will be handled. Either way, why does that get you so worked up? You are free to do as you wish. Any exceptions will be exceptions allowed by Disney, which is their choice, not the guest's.

True, but Disboard is in charge. It is against the rules to discuss ways to break Disney rules.

Ah, so we agree the discussion is not about breaking Disney rules, but rather understanding Disney's rules. Which would explain why Disboards allows the discussion.

I don't agree at all. I think letting people use any excuse for missing their fastpass window was a mistake. A balance would be best, but as is shown time and time again, give people an inch and they take a mile. Instead of CMs letting people who honestly missed their window into the line late we had people missing their window on purpose. I'm sure that is not what was intended when the fastpasses were started, guest going on the ride whenever they felt like it. True balance could only be achieved by guests using their tickets during the listed time window, not by showing up whenever they pleased.

But what I am saying is the only evidence we have about whether things were in balance is Disney's own actions. With the window still on the ticket, but the end time not enforced, they clearly were satisfied with the way it worked. If they weren't, they would have changed things.

They didn't, at least not until XPass.

And they didn't let guests show up whenever they wished, they did enforce the start time on the FP. So they were willing to enforce the start time because it would have caused more problems not to. But the opposite was true with the end time.

It's not about whether anyone likes that some didn't stick to the rules, it's just about what worked best, and Disney's actions define that.

Due to everyone's persuasive arguments and me rethinking matters, I have seen the light.

I am going to be at WDW this year from May 31st - June 8th with my family of 3 plus my DD's friend. I have learned that Test Track will be closed for rehab. How dare Disney take away from my first trip to DW since 2003!!! I cant believe what terrible service they will providing for me given the 1000s of dollars I will be spending on my trip. How will I get to experience the thrill of riding in that car speeding down the track??? I am writing to Disney and DEMAND that since its ALL THEIR FAULT for ruining my trip to EPCOT that they should give my family free tickets to the Richard Petty Driving Experience. Also, since closing Test Track will disrupt the park's flow and traffic patterns, it will increase the crowds at Soaring. I am ENTITLED to unlimited, non-expiring Fast Passes for my length of stay for Soaring. I am just so steamed that Disney would shut down a majot attraction during my stay and taking away from my experience and overall value and quality of my vacation.

Furthermore, now I hear that Big Thunder Mountain RR might be not be finished with its refurb by the expected date of May 27th. WHAT???!!! Two major rides in two different parks. Why is Disney singling me out???!!!! If BTMRR is closed during my stay, I will demand to be compensated by be allowed to drive the monorail and train for the day and get to sound the whistle. How else will I get to experience a train?? AND again traffic patterns will be altered in the MK so i am ENTITLED to and DEMAND unlimited FPs to Space Mountain and Splash Mountain.

I am writing, emailing, calling, sending carrier pigeons, smoke signals, telegraphing, and faxing these concerns and demands to Disney. They OWE me since they are daring to close down rides during my stay. My poor 16 yr old DD who has been waiting and begging to return to WDW to ride Test Track and BTMRR. Her summer vacation is being ruined... i doubt she will ever wanted to take her children to WDW one day because of this disaster.

If Disney doesnt honor my requests then I know they are just all about the money and dont care about their guests. I will change my vacation plans and go to the Holy Land Experience and stay at the Dead Sea Resort and receive length of stay front of the line passes for the walk on water attraction...

What XPass? Where? Is there something new replacing FastPass in effect? Because I'm not seeing (literally) any changes.

if it's not too much trouble, would you mindciting or linking your source for this apparent inside information?

Feigned outrage. It's been done to death. New material please.

Dint forget to notify the media! :teeth:

The problem is, Disney's actions can be wishy-washy at the best of times. One CM will tell you one thing, another CM will tell you something else. It would truly be best if they just made rules and then stuck to them, instead of all of this back and forth and sometimes we enforce this rule but for only certain people and sometimes we don't garbage.

Find a mirror, quickly!

This, literally, made me snort. So simple. So amazing.

Oh, for the love of humanity, lock it! Lock It NOW!!!!

I read this as if coming from a character in a hilarious move. The timing, the way it was written - brilliant.

OP, coming back late is over, adjust accordingly.

I mean, do I really have to say anything? Whoever didn't laugh at this has no humor.

All I have to say is...

I tried to stop this train wreck. I saw the truck on the tracks, and set off the flares and called the tow truck but...

The train hit the truck anyway.

What folks don't seem to get is that no matter what you do with your FP, Disney wins -- they kept you out of line for an hour or so, and you probably went off and spent money in the meantime instead of standing behind the big hairy guy from New Jersey who's waiting to beat the stuffing out of someone jumping the line or "perverts" making off-handed jokes about kids and men in tights.

If you get to use the FP, no skin off their nose. If you don't, still no skin off their nose -- they have your ticket money already, and if you missed because you were spending money in a TS venue, guess what -- they STILL win!!!

Be my best friend?! :lmao:

If one is gruntled on the DIS is one DISgruntled?

THIS IS THE BEST POST EVER!!! :upsidedow

I'll tell you what contributes to meltdowns, spreadsheets, spreadsheets with exact number of rides, shows, meals, breaks people want to do by any means possible, so much for relaxed vacation.

Preach on, sister! Can I get an Amen?

Thanks for your post. See you next year. :lmao:

Bahahaha. Excellent! So quick witted. Love it! :cheer2:

This is SO ridiculously over the top, and off topic that it had me laughing for a good 5 minutes. I mean - I can totally understand wanting to right fight but holy donuts did you just take this to a whole nother level of nut. Amazing. Well done. :flower3:

I have to say, folks, that I have read this entire thread and it is, without a doubt, one of the funniest things I have ever read. I wish that y'all would concentrate less on scenarios, and more on how funny the people around you are, and how wonderful all of our differences make us - as a whole. You guys are, without a doubt, amazing people! Thank you for being you. :hippie:

Ah, so we agree the discussion is not about breaking Disney rules, but rather understanding Disney's rules. Which would explain why Disboards allows the discussion.

Nobody provided you with ins and outs on this thread, so far thread remained clean just like threads about getting 4 yo in for free, pool hopping and so on, we do not give tips like that.

That's what we said prior to March 7th, yet the horse is still taking a licking...

Poor horsie. :sad1:

Don't lump me in with all the doomsday preppers though. They actually scare me. :scared:

Honestly...I'd rather read 5000 Feigned outrage posts like the one above then one of the self-serving, whiny and childish posturing posts that has over taken this thread. Feigned indignation is not a pretty sight either. Time for a humor transplant, theme parks are not brain surgery. Nobody dies because they missed a ride. Lighten up!

It also is obvious that UNCFanatik put way more thought and effort in that post then the combined total of most of the posts that I have read here. Including my own (thought I'd say it before someone else did)
