Due to everyone's persuasive arguments and me rethinking matters, I have seen the light.

I am going to be at WDW this year from May 31st - June 8th with my family of 3 plus my DD's friend. I have learned that Test Track will be closed for rehab. How dare Disney take away from my first trip to DW since 2003!!! I cant believe what terrible service they will providing for me given the 1000s of dollars I will be spending on my trip. How will I get to experience the thrill of riding in that car speeding down the track??? I am writing to Disney and DEMAND that since its ALL THEIR FAULT for ruining my trip to EPCOT that they should give my family free tickets to the Richard Petty Driving Experience. Also, since closing Test Track will disrupt the park's flow and traffic patterns, it will increase the crowds at Soaring. I am ENTITLED to unlimited, non-expiring Fast Passes for my length of stay for Soaring. I am just so steamed that Disney would shut down a majot attraction during my stay and taking away from my experience and overall value and quality of my vacation.

Furthermore, now I hear that Big Thunder Mountain RR might be not be finished with its refurb by the expected date of May 27th. WHAT???!!! Two major rides in two different parks. Why is Disney singling me out???!!!! If BTMRR is closed during my stay, I will demand to be compensated by be allowed to drive the monorail and train for the day and get to sound the whistle. How else will I get to experience a train?? AND again traffic patterns will be altered in the MK so i am ENTITLED to and DEMAND unlimited FPs to Space Mountain and Splash Mountain.

I am writing, emailing, calling, sending carrier pigeons, smoke signals, telegraphing, and faxing these concerns and demands to Disney. They OWE me since they are daring to close down rides during my stay. My poor 16 yr old DD who has been waiting and begging to return to WDW to ride Test Track and BTMRR. Her summer vacation is being ruined... i doubt she will ever wanted to take her children to WDW one day because of this disaster.

If Disney doesnt honor my requests then I know they are just all about the money and dont care about their guests. I will change my vacation plans and go to the Holy Land Experience and stay at the Dead Sea Resort and receive length of stay front of the line passes for the walk on water attraction...

Sounds like you've done meticulous, detailed planning -- enjoy your trip. Don't forget a visit to Old Town, where you can take a flying leap on the Slingshot...

I heard that enforcement was calling in back up. :rotfl2:

I hate to tell you this, but the walk on water attraction is currently closed in support of local water conservation ordinances.

Walk on Water was also banned because it was learned that many of the guests and water walker enthusiast were admitting that they did indeed flush the toilet with their feet thus causing a major increase in bacteria levels in the water. There's always someone that is going to ruin it for everyone else!

Let me be the first to welcome Mr. Sheen to the Dis!

.
For instance, we once had a lunch at CP take more than 2.5 hours-- at least an hour longer than it should have-- and we missed our FP window as a result. We *should* have had plenty of time to both eat and make the FP window, but due to some circumstances beyond our control (v.e.r.y. long delay in being seated, v.e.r.y slow server, etc.), we wound up outside the FP window. .
:
You're fortunate, this has only happened to you once. ;)

You are just dead WRONG. Sorry. You cannot plan for getting in 1 hour past your ADR time, and having a terrible server who takes you an extra hour.
This is why, I'm giving up ADRs. No more TS for me. Too many unknown factors. :upsidedow

I'm thinking with all the hype for Brazillian Tourists, and European travelers -- Disney is not hurting for paying customers, and frankly, they want to change FP (maybe its the tour groups that pull 100 FP at a time, maybe its getting back to their algorithm - maybe its the "change to come" that Disney is prepping for
One of those things, that make you go....hmmmmm.:lmao:

I had a FP for Space Mountain that had a window of 12pm-1pm. I showed up at 2:00pm and was denied. I started asking about exceptions when all of a sudden 3 men in black suits showed up out of nowhere and grabbed me and put a bag over my head. They took me into an office where there stripped me down and searched me. They gave me a full body search and probed me in places I don't want to talk about. The last thing I remember is a large man wearing Mickey ears punching me in the face.

When I woke up, I was on Small World. I was handcuffed to the boat and they made me ride it for the rest of the day. Whatever you do... SHOW UP TO RIDES DURING THE FASTPASS WINDOW THEY PROVIDE!
And, we don't know, how many haven't made it out alive!! :faint:

I don't agree at all. I think letting people use any excuse for missing their fastpass window was a mistake. .

But, Disney never asked for an excuse. :confused3 "Late" FP was accepted, no reason necessary.;)

From what I understand, at the very beginning they were allowing people to ride late who had a legitimate excuse. And then as more and more people made excuses, they just started letting everyone use them late. Less hassle for everyone that way.

I have never been asked for a reason and never offered one. We originally discovered FP could be used anytime (after the window opened) from CMs offering the info.

Yes, that is what everyone has been saying...however, it gradually morphed into that. When it first started times were pretty much adhered too, then people found out that exceptions were made and Oops, big surprise, many more exceptions were asked for until it got to the point where they just stopped asking about them because they were going to say OK anyway so why waste the time. Now for whatever reason Disney has, they feel the need to enforce the window times and it looks like they are dead serious about it. Will exceptions still be made on a case by case basis? Yes, I'm sure they will, but I'll bet that this time they will have a way of backing up the excuse so that it is a reality and not a scam.

If they don't have that they are just wasting everyone's time because before too long it will be all over the boards and once again it will be back to business as usual.

I'm not disputing that when FP first launched, the return time window was enforced. But, obviously, from the start they made exceptions. What I find interesting is that so many people merely accept as FACT that people figured out they could make up excuses to game the system and use them late. And that the increase in this abuse of the system led to Disney giving up on trying to enforce the rules and just let everyone use them late.

Isn't it just as possible that only those with legimate reasons for being late were allowed in and Disney figured out that there was no impact on the system, so they decided there was no NEED to enforce the end time of the window?

I'm not saying this IS what happened. Just that it COULD be. But the alternative explanation usually offered here as cold, hard, fact merely serves to bolster people's opinion that only people abusing and gaming the system used FP late and Disney just gave up on trying to make us follow the rules (until now when they just couldn't take it any longer).

They gave up enforcing originally simply to take away decision making from CMs. It was not important at that time because originally people were learning about it when they were late, on a need to know basis.

If they ever thought that being on time is not important for system to work properly, they would just take return window off the FP and let line regulate itself. It did not happen. For system to work they needed people to be on time. Not many were late and it did work without disturbing the whole system. it did not matter what excuses people used at that time due to the small number of people being late. However, people talk, CMs talk, internet happened and more people learned about it. I think it is entirely possible that system did not work as it was intendent anymore.

We didnt have a "late" FP problem, until "free dining" was offered year round. Hey, walk up ressies are extinct..gotta make them 6 months out... It's either dining experiences or attractions. No way, we should expect both. Unless, Disney can "save the day"? Hmmmm... :rolleyes1b:upsidedow
