I've read MANY post in ref FP but I can't see if anyone has found a work around for this problem. DH and I have AP's. We're traveling with family who have 10 day MYW tickets. DH and I will be staying, off property, for three weeks and arriving a week prior to the rest of the group.

Here's the problem. I can set up FP for our whole group together for only 7 days because that is the limit for AP holders - even though, the rest of our group is allowed 10 days worth of FP's. DH and I will be arriving ahead of the main group but we cannot use FP any of those first days because I've set our FP plans (7 day max, again) to coincide with the rest of the group. Make sense?

Anyway - have any other off site AP holders figured out how to work around this or am I just out of luck?

You can't work around your allotted 7 days as an AP, unless you choose to make FP+ selections for your first week there (before your family arrives) and then try your luck each day in making your selections for the next week one day at a time to match your family's standing FPs. Meaning, the 7 day rule is 'use one, get one' so if you make FP+ selections for your first day in the parks, at midnight that night, you would be able to book Fps for another day. My only recommendation is to book like 6 of your 7 days with to match your family's reservations, and then have the one free FP available day as your 'floating' day for your first week there with just you and your husband. If that makes sense?

Yeah, that's pretty much what we've done. Since we are able to stay off site and get AP's and are recently retired we like to take longer trips than most. I hope that 7 day restriction gets stretched in the future - maybe out to 10 days like the longest MYW tix. Obviously just because we have AP's doesn't mean we should have unlimited FP's - I totally understand that and agree. This is our first trip since FP+ so, if nothing else, while researching this I've learned alot I didn't know before!

They should really give AP holders 10 days, same as the max length of a ticket.
