FP+ 60-day mark - what am I doing wrong here?

We have a trip planned for 12/19-12/22. Room-only reservation at POR. We have APs that expire on 11/22, and that I will be renewing soon, but haven't yet.

Today was the 60-day mark where (I thought) on-site guests could start reserving FP+'s, but all the site is giving me is the next 30 days, not 60.

Or is the 60-day mark only for room+ticket packages?

Thanks!

I'm not an expert but I think the problem is that since your AP's expire on 11/22, so before you check in to your resort, you don't technically have valid tickets for your stay.

Renew the AP's and you should be fine.

Argh. Thanks. So many unofficial websites state simply that "onsite guests have the ability to book 60 days in advance". No mention of tickets or packages.

Of course, after reading your post, I checked the WDW web site and sure enough, "up to 60 days before check-in when you have a Walt Disney World vacation package". So, yeah, I guess I'm ponying up $3000 a lot sooner than I thought.

Of course you can't book any FP without a ticket valid for the dates you want to book. Even if booking at 30 days you need some kind of ticket.

Well, I suppose I thought that the on-site reservation was indicative (though not necessarily, I grant you) that you'd eventually be buying tickets for your stay, so WDW was granting you the 60-day perk. I've always had APs, and this is the first time I've ever had a gap between my AP renewal and my next res.

I guess it is to stop people from making FP+ reservations that they may not use if they decide not to buy tickets or if they don't have tickets that cover the length of their stay. It makes logical sense that you would need valid ticket media to be able to book FP+, since you needed a ticket previously to be able to get a FP.

I think the issue is sometimes people stay 6 days but only go to the park 4 days. So if they let you book with out a ticket you good book FP+ for 6 park days and then decide what days not to go to the park and waste those FP meaning someone else is missing out.

Similar situation at 60 days you don't have to make final payment so people may still not be sure if they are going eat up FP then cancel the trip. Having a ticket is needed to make the system fair....

Yes, that makes sense now that I think about it.

Of course, AP holders could do the same thing - book a bunch of FPs and then bail without repercussions. The regular ticket holders, if they used a single day's ticket, would have the other days expire in two weeks, right?

It makes sense when you think about it but it also makes people buy their tickets way earlier than they would have had to in the past, which is beneficial to Disney I guess.

We are leaving for our trip tomorrow.....flight leaves in 23.25 hours people this is not a drill. Repeat, this is NOT a drill.

Anyway, DFi and I have AP's that came with the Escape wedding package and we bought the kids 5 day hopper tickets though I'm quite certain we will add an extra day to their tickets when we get there. However, that means we don't have any FP's for Epcot because I had to add an extra day at MK to get that stinking A&E FP for DD5. I'm hoping we can catch them at rope drop or soemthing instead so we can switch that day but if not, it won't be the end of the world.

Yes technically I think an AP could do that but only if they have an onsite reservation. I think that risk is smaller since without an onsite reservation you can only book 7 days in advance.

I believe they expire 14 days after first use.

Have a fabulous trip!

Thank you!

Yeah, if you were staying on-site with an AP (in my case, DVC), you could book your 3 FP+'s at MK, and then at the last minute say, "Forget it; we're doing Disney Springs today" and let the FP+'s ride with no downside.

Totally, and while I am sure it happens I just think it's not a huge number. While if you let onsite guests book with out tickets I think it would be a much larger number....

It's because the system sees that you do not have tickets linked to your MDE that will be valid in December. The system is allowing you to book with your AP until that expires.

Congrats on the wedding and have a fabulous trip!

Thank you so much. I'm sure everything will be great. My biggest concern now is sunburn in the four days we are there before the wedding.

I figure if that's my biggest concern we are doing pretty well.
