Fox is doing a Christmas Story Live

Meet Me in St Louis, Holiday Inn, White Christmas and It's A Wonderful Life are my fave Christmas films.

I've never seen it. Just never interested me.

I always felt the same way, until our local community theater group did it several years ago. I absolutely loved it, so then watched the movie and loved it even more. It is now one of my very favorite holiday movies. I collect things pertaining to the movie and have a leg lamp, several Christmas ornaments, clothes, coffee mugs, nightlight, etc.

I would like to see the FOX version too. I doubt I will like it as much as the movie, but it could surprise me.

Finally got to watch this movie for the first time last year, loved it! Still got it on the TIVO box ready and waiting for this year :)

It has been a favorite of many long before TBS even aired it. It came out in 1983, I'd call that a classic.

Yes, we saw it in the theater and was thought it was a hoot! There was a small crowd, and one of my friends has a very distinct laugh. The rest of the audience was giggling as much at him as the movie :)

Decent, but not great.

Somehow it just didn't have the ooomph of seeing it live on stage in person.

I didn't watch it, I just can't imagine anyone other than Darren McGavin doing justice to "The Old Man"

My DS10 just closed this show in Pennsylvania yesterday. He played Grover Dill and had gotten a callback for Ralphie. We watched half of the TV version and thought it was bad!!
Maybe it is because my son is so young that having the script a little different upset him?
And some parts were completely different.
I thought the dad was very good.
Waiting until tomorrow to finish watching. The version they let theatre companies do is very very good!
We actually sent a video audition in for this TV version.

DH and I both enjoyed the movie -- DH has been a long-time fan of author Jean Shepherd. We tuned into the live musical tonight and could only watch about 5 mins. It was that bad. The music just didn't do the story justice, and the actors couldn't hold a candle to the movie actors. Sorry.

Thought it was mediocre. Staging seemed a bit off, and honestly, there were TOO MANY songs. There was no need to break into song over any new moment, you could still present exposition and storyflow with dialogue and action instead of music and dance every 4 minutes.

Made until the first commercial break, then I fast forward to the second commercial because one of the boys I teach was in the live ad for “The Greatest Show on Earth.”
